The fixed blade thread reminded me of something. Though I generally replace the blades, and always do if nicks appear(not just dull blades but nicked blades), I recently found a cheap small tool I picked up a few years ago and had forgotten having. Don't know the name of it though it was made in Whitefish, Montana. I vaguely remember paying around $7 for it. Recently I had sharpened some dull Muzzy MX-3 blades and Slicktrick Magnum blades. It took a bit but I got the blades sharp enough to shave hair on my arm. Tuesday afternoon I shot two does, one with that very Slicktrick and the other with the Muzzy. It can be done with the right tool. I'll post a pic of this sharpener soon.
I've got a HUGE pile of MX-3 blades lying on one corner of my archery bench that I've been meaning to sharpen myself... Matt / PA sent me a "wheel sharpener" over a decade ago now that he swore by back then, and I need to break it out and finally use it on them.
I use a piece of 3/8" glass that I glue (spray adhesive) pieces of wet or dry sand paper to. For BH blades, I use 400, 600 and 1500 grit. I have an angled blade clamp that I use with a little honing oil. It seems like I can get them sharper than when they were new.
With a quality broadhead this shouldn't even be a concern. I have NEVER had to "put an edge" on a Muzzy. They're quite sharp out of the package. I'll only use a broadhead one time on a deer, then it gets retired. Just the way I am.
that's how I sharpen my woodworking tools - there is a great article if you google scary sharp about using sandpaper to get an amazing edge on tools... I want to build a jig to get the correct angle on my muzzy blades

The KME sharpener works awesome. It is a little pricey but guaranteed for life. Check it out. www.kmesharp.com
