Looking for some help and suggestions. I recently got tactacam to film hunts. I don't have any interest in using the tactacam stabilizer mount. I'm not willing to part with my current stabilizer for several reasons. I recently used the universal mount and attached the camera to my current stabilizer. I got a lot of great footage during practice, but the problem I noticed is that it affected my shot placement. The extra weight on my stabilizer was causing both my broadheads and FP's to impact about three inches low. The bow is well tuned and I'd rather move the camera than messing around with the sight. I have a Mathews chill R with a Geogrid riser and I'm looking to do some sort of a riser mount for the camera. I'm having trouble using the universal mount directly on the riser, which leaves me with only one option... to use the 3M tape. I do have some concerns with 3M tape that I'm hoping someone can shed some light on. 1). Will the tape cause any long term damage to the camo finish on the riser? 2). How durable and stong is this tape? The Geogrid, just by design, will not allow the tape 100% contact to the riser because of the cutouts. So how strong will it be. I don't want it falling off walking through the woods. Any suggestions and experience would be greatly appreciated.
Same bow and ordered the tactacam today. Very interested in how this turns out why do you think it moved your arrow ?I am also going to look at mounting on the site arm?? I also have no desire to change my stabilizer.Good thing I ordered before I saw this LOL
I don't think you'll be disappointed with the camera purchase. For the price point, quality and versatility it can't be beat IMO. I've been having a ton of fun with it! I didn't actually use the tactacam stabilizer. I used the universal mount and attached that to my existing stabilizer. I'm not willing to part with my actual stabilizer because it's rock solid for me. I think the added weight on the stabilizer just made it harder to hold the bow during my follow through. The bow just wanted to dip down on me. As soon as I took the camera off I was right back on target.
I haven't...I'd hate to buy another mount if I can make what I have work. But if I can't I will be sure to look into them. Thanks for the help.
Alfred I saw on a resent episode of Bow Hunt or Die that Tom Alfred had his Tactacam mounted up high on his GeoGrid riser. He apparently used the Universal mount. It's hard to find a flat spot. I noticed that he had to remove his quiver mount in order to accomadate that. I'm looking for a way to move mine from the stabalizer spot as well, not because I don't think it's totally convenient. It just doesn't work so well in hunting from some of my ground blinds. Especially my Ghost Blind. I was curious what other people are doing as well, to mount their Tactacams. The lady on the phone at Tactacam said she mounts hers to her sight arm when hunting from a ground blind. I'd mount mine up high like Alford did but I don't really want to lose my quiver mount. I don't shoot with it on, but I use it to carry in my arrows. Maybe I need to find a better way to carry my arrows.
