Wife is looking for ideas for me for Christmas. A tablet is one of them (she's tired of fighting me for her iPad around the house):D

I've done a lot of research on them and being relatively tech capable, I'm not married to any one OS. I see the merits of Windows 8/RT, Android, and iOS. App-wise, Apple still has it on lock. Flexibility of storage options still goes to Android/Windows based tablets. I don't think the Windows 8 tablets are necessary for me as I don't need much in the line of creation capabilities (Office Suite, ability to install x86 software, etc). So in a sense, like most, it's down to Android/iOS tablets.

So what is everyone running and how do you like it?

I'd get an iPad. I like the mini for portability.

I'm using an iPad. The 64 gb one with retina display and cellular data, no complaints at all :tu:

I bought an iPad simply due to the amount & quality of apps available for it. I only have a 16 GB w/retina display because I don't store much of anything on it. Anything I need is stored in the cloud somewhere, so I can access it that way. It's also a wi-fi only unit because I rarely use it outside of my house or the office, and just about anywhere you go has wi-fi access these days. If I really need to get online and I'm out, I use my iPhone as a hot spot and connect using that. Works fine in a pinch.

I love the device but to be brutally honest I could've saved some coin and got a cheaper Android device to do what I do - check email, browse web, watch videos, use Google Earth, and maybe play some Words With Friends.

I'm typing this on an iPad and it's nice but had I went with the note 2 or 3 instead of the s4, I don't think I'd ever use the tablet. If I had the need/money I'd get something in the mini size range and I'd go something cheaper than iPad. We have Asus tablet that my 9 year old uses, I ask if she wanted Santa to bring her a mini and she said she rather use her tablet. I've used the samsung tablet a little and it's pretty dang nice and it external storage.

    I have a 4G 10.1 Samsung Galaxy 2. I run Chrome on it.

I use it to browse, check mail, go on ebay etc etc.. Perfect for what I need.
