Sydney is now 15 and ever since she killed her first animal at age 7, all I have heard is "Dad I want to bow hunt." Of course that wasn't feasible then, so she went out with a gun and was successful multiple times. Then moved to a crossbow and after killing nearly every animal to ever cross her path, she got board with that. So this spring she told me that she was hunting with a bow, this was the year. Now Syd is tall, but needs to put on more muscle. She worked her way up to 38# and shot in a 4H league this summer to hone her skills.

This morning it all came together. This young buck came in and teased Sydney for what felt like an eternity. Syd was patient as she waited for the right shot. At 14 yards, he turned and I said "draw". He stopped his turn slightly quartering away and I said "OK". She buried the pin and let the arrow fly. Mule kick and off he ran, circling through the beans and into the woods not 50 yards away. High fives all around. A perfect shot. That 38# draw with an arrow tipped with a 100 gr 2 blade Magnus Buzzcut blew completely through his heart.

He isn't the biggest buck in the woods, but he has to be one the exclamation point on one of the most special moments that I have had the pleasure to spend in the woods with Sydney. Needless to say she was beaming ear to ear.
