I currently have a Darton Maverick Express QL and was looking around to possibly upgrade. I found a Switchback XT for sale that looks like from the pictures is pretty much all set up. The price is $350 what do you think? The draw length is 29" and I am 28.5", I am not sure if I'll have to buy a new cam or not for that half inch. Thanks in advance!

You might need to depending on how you hold your anchor point.
A new cam is gonna run you about $90 and if you need a new string and cable set its about another $120
so you would still be under $600 which is pretty good. Thats a great bow i just sold mine to upgrade to the extreme.
If i didnt have to sell it i would never have.

I also found a DXT in my draw length. That one only comes with STS string dampener and is 375$ though. Somebody else told me that a Bowtech General or Mathews Drenalin would be better in this price range; said the XT is slow.

I think the switchback is one of those bows most people hold on to. If it'll work for you it sounds like a good price.

I owned a Switchback XT, and they're really nice bows.... that's a good price if it fit you. Unfortunately, Mathews bows are notorious for running 1/2" long on the draw, so if you need something shorter, there's a good possibility that it's even longer than you're thinking it will be. The only thing that will help is you're going from a Mathews to a Mathews...

So it sounds like the XT is a better choice over the DXT. Is it true though about being a "slow" bow or no. Should I hold out for a more recent faster bow, a Drenalin maybe, or pull the trigger on the XT? Thanks again!

It is true they are not speed demons but it is a very smooth draw bow. Remember speed doesn't kill, shot placement does. I think i'm shooting right around 285fps with mine. Kills the same as a 300+fps bow.

I love my xt mine also shoots in the 280 range, I got the z7 last year and I am still not sure which 1 is my back up bow. I know guys that sold there xt to buy the Drenalin and said they wish they would have never switched.

So i went ahead and got it. I'm pretty sure I'll have to get a new cam to shorten the draw as i was shooting it a few times and the string was hitting my arm. The bow itself is in great condition, it hardly even looks used really. Even the dampeners have just about no wear on them. He said it was his back up bow and was used maybe a handful of times, other than that it just sat there. I'm not really sure I like the rest on it, and I may swap it out for the Apache I have on my other bow. The sight is fine I guess, just needs adjusting, I'm hoping I can take all but one pin out of the sight and have one pin good to about 30 yards. I took of off the cat whiskers and was trying to put a couple extra string leeches I had from a 4 pack on, but I couldn't get the string to separate. I really like the quiver. Other than that im not sure, maybe a new string, any suggestions of anything i need/should do? Thanks again!
