Ive been using muzzy mx-3's and im thinking of going to a mechanical type broadhead.I like to ask who here has done it and did they switch back? How true is it that they fly like fieldpoints?Im asking so I don't waste my money.

I switched. I was using some kind of wasp broad head. I shot a nice 8pt with them. It wasn't a perfect shot, still it was close enough so that it should have put him down. It didn't. Never found him. I switched to rage. awesome BH. Right know I'm using the 3 blades but I'll probably shoot a different rage head next year.

They fly the same as FPs. Out to 70 yards or so. I haven't tested them further.

You can find a rage three pack on sale for like $30.

These are the practice heads. They fly just and I mean just like the real heads.

I have used both muzzys and rage broadheads and both have worked for me. As long as the blades are sharp and the the arrow is correctly placed then you should be fine with both

I've shot expandables, and several fixed blades. i've never shot rage and im sure they work fine, but i like to stick to fixed blades. I've shot slick tricks for the past couple years and couldnt be more happy with them. they are the truest flying fixed blades ive ever shot and they really cut good. never lost an animal ive shot with them. awesome broadhead for $27.99.

Mechanicals and fixed both work great. I decided though that I didn't want to spend $25 and 30 mins replacing blades and nuts/bolts on the Killzones I used last year. Original rage blades were also a pain in the a. Those stupid friction pins drove me nuts.

Going with slick tricks this year. Blades are $15 and take 2 mins to swap out.

The rages and Killzones did fly just like field points though.

I shot ramcats last year and loved them, but I like to use a different BH every year. I have never uaed mechanical BHs before so this year I'm shooting killzone 125s. Cabelas had them on sale $29.99 a pack so I picked up 5. Ill have them Monday.

I switched from muzzy to rage then to bloodrunners now im back to muzzy. I hated the rage. Bloodrunners were good but to expensive. My muzzys fly like my fp. Ill never shoot expandables again.

I've shot deer with several types of broad heads. Switched to Rages (2 Blade) 3 or 4 seasons ago. 8 deer, 2 hogs and a coyote later I am very happy with them.

I started out with a fixed 2 blade bear with a bleeder blade. Switched to a 3 blade thunderhead fixed. Switched to a 3 blade muzzy fixed. Switched to a rage 2 blade mechanical. Switched to a swhacker 2 blade mechanical. Approx. over the last 15 years. All of these broadheads work well.

I might be picking a fight here, not intentionally, I would say stick with fixed blades or a hybrid. I have hunted a ton of expandables, mostly been dissappointed. I shot Rages for a while, they fly great except if they open in flight then they have wings... not good...20 yards right of my target. It was big but not side of a barn big. Never do that again... I had G5 they were so poorly made I could not screw them into my inserts, took them back real quick. There were a bunch of others also. My recommendation would be Ramcats, they will fly just like your field tips. This is just my opinion

I used to shoot Muzzy MX-3s. I took down 2 deer with them, they worked but I wasn't terribly impressed. I switched to Rage 2-blades after that and they put a hammering on the deer. They fly just like field points and put HUGE holes in deer. All you have to do is makes sure the blades are seated on the o-ring when you nock your arrow, it takes like 3 seconds to do. I think Rage gets a lot of bad reviews because when people make a bad shot, they automatically blame the broadhead instead of themselves. That is just my opinion, I have never a problem with them nor have any of my hunting buddies.

I switched from Rage last year because I hurt my shoulder and had to go down to about 45 lbs for a season. During that season I shot Magnus Stinger Buzzcuts, they are also a great cut on contact head. They fly great and are made in the USA with an outstanding warranty. You might check them out if you decide to stay with fixed blades.

I plan on going back to mechanicals next year since my shoulder is healing up. I am going to try using Redhead Gators. They get great reviews by just about everyone on Bass Pro's website and on Archerytalk, and they are $10 cheaper than Rage. Also they have no o-rings, which never really bothered me in the first place, but if that is a concern of yours then this may be a good head to look at.

    Good luck this year.

    rage

the rage 40 ke broadheads are the way to go. i shot a six point 140 pound deer on the sixteenth, and the broadhead went through his shoulder and out the other side. he got about 40 yards and bit the dust. i would definitely recommend this broadhead. only problem is it gets your boots messy tracking even the short distance.

I've been shooting muzzy mx4's for 5 years & switched to the NAP kill zone this year. Like mentioned above I have shot plenty of deer with them but lost a deer to coyotes last year due to a crappy blood trail. ( it was a perfect shot BTW).

I used to shoot NAP Thunderhead 125s but found they planed anywhere over 35 yards. I shoot NAP Spitfire 125s now and there is little variation between the practice point and the BH. Definitely worth the peice of mind knowing your BH is going to do the same as your field point. Needless to say love the mechanicals now.
