Is LAMP actually real? Kind of a funny/unmotivating acronym for a top high school. But look, I had a 1260 SAT (when it was 1600 scale) along with 3.6 or 3.7 GPA (tanked senior year from a 3.9ish because I just didnt care) I got into a top 100 school with an academic scholarship that covered full tuition at a private college and got the 4 year ROTC scholarship on top of that. Your son looks like he is in good shape, just make sure he has motivation for what he does, my college years were a downfall and a waste of my life. Graduated with history degree 2.6 GPA because I had no motivation and had NO idea what I wanted to do. I also saw my bio professors making meager pay which wasn't the greatest motivator. Good to see your son is on track to being more focused than I, ive fallen off the track, but with my military experience along with this engineering degree im trying to use as a stepping stone to a good masters program when I get out, will hopefully right me. Fortunately, its never too late in America. Id say veterinarian is a GREAT way to go, with people making pets more of their family, if he starts up his own practice id say he'll be surrounded by money. Not to be morbid, but not as much malpractice as actual medical doctors and you charge people up the wazoo for your service. Downside is that it takes just as much work and difficulty as medical doctor. I was a bio degree for 3 years before I switched to history my last year and I have a few friends who went vet, they had to do all the pre-medical requisites like I did. I read somewhere how that sector is growing fast, someone has to take care of Paris Hilton's little dog. Sorry to ramble on, just hate to see people make the same mistakes as I did. All you need is motivation and determination in college, I sure wish I was in the mental motivation state I am in now back when I attended my undergrad.
At least you are doing it now... I was 37 before I went to college. Then went straight through... a Bachelor's and 2 Master's degrees. Motivation is everything.
