I do this and see absolutely nothing wrong with it. This year for instance, I bought my combination archery permit and already received my combination shotgun permits. I was fortunate enough to use a buck tag earlier this month. With my vacation coming up I purchased another combination tag just in case that 2nd buck(yeah right) came by. I now have 5 unfilled tags.

My brother said he would like a deer, and another friend would also. Whether I recoup the price of the tag or the 5 gallons of gas used for the round trip, I get $15 for my troubles and they go to the processor with me and the deer and the processing cost is put in their name. They get called and pay when it is ready. I've done it the past two years, I took the deer legally and reported them legally in my name and basically transferred ownership to them. I made sure it was ok with the processor the first time and he said it was perfectly fine.

Now if he bought tags in his name and gave them to me to shoot him a deer, that is poaching in blatant form and something I wouldn't consider. I quit a lease I signed up for when the landowner doled out his landowners tags to the other leasers during firearm season. I wrote him a letter telling him to keep the money I had already given him for the 2 archery deer I harvested on his land and I would not be paying any further money or using his land in the future. I paid 6 months money for about 28 days in the woods.

When I was stationed in North Dakota during my Air force career I became real good friends with a game warden. One day I stopped in on a hunter safety course for kids to help out, during a break he and I somehow got on this very same subject. At that time early 1980's he stated to me that " Us wardens have no problem with party hunting as long as the tag owner is in the general area". Needless to say I was a little shocked, I decided to question him further. He explained thier stance was that they "the wardens" knew it was happening and found it difficult if not impossible to stop, atleast they knew the tag was purchased and used".

I am not sure were I fall on this particular question. I have always shot enough archery deer every year that I end up giving extra meat away. I do not know how you prove your claim but I do know that I would not make the accusation against someone without proof.

If it's no big deal, I have about a 140" 11 pointer in the freezer I've been trying to find a tag for...anyone mind calling it in for me?

You should call your local sports writer and let them know about this amazing story of the neighbor lady killing a buck in velvet. she might make the paper!

Let it go... If you know you are an ethical hunter, that is enough. When you do it right... you have the right to be proud of a hard earned trophy. If someone is proud of their poached deer, then know they will give an account later. Romans 2:16

If a guy shoots a buck and then shoots another one and tags it with his wifes tag...well then that family gets more meat. I don't see a problem with this and if it is illegal maybe it shouldnt be. I also believe that if a deer is on someones property, for the time it is there it is "owned" by that individual. I think they have the right to harvest it whenever and however they want. IMO.

Seriously? Ummmmmm.....no. Can you imagine what our game populations would be, if this were the case? Think.....buffalo.

How Wisconsin sees tag sharing... A young man in Central Wisconsin was able to take two very nice bucks in Central Wisconsin with his bow last year. The second was shot while hunting with his father and his father taged the animal. His mother, not knowing the game laws put both bow kills into the local paper, the game warden showed up, took both animals, the youngsters bow, handed him a fine, and now lost his hunting rights for I believe three years. It's poaching, it's a big deal.

Precisely...negligence is not a valid excuse in my opinion, you choose to hunt; know the laws!

Exactly, I'm willing to pay a speeding ticket, but not this ^ and that's why it's a bigger deal.

If a guy is feeding his family, why's he got to shoot a second buck? Why not a doe that he has a tag for?
