Survived a GUN SHOT?

Do you guys think he survived a gun shot or just a birth defect. I don't know what buck it is yet because he just started growing his antlers but I am hoping it's not the big 8 pt because wont an injury like that hurt his antler growth?

 

Relax. Your buck and his antlers will be just fine. Looks like a good healthy deer.

 

could just as easily be a bad bow shot. I doubt its a birth defect.

 

Are you talking about the ruffled hair on his back? Could just be scratching lice.

 

Not likely. There's an indentation on his back, scratching alone wouldn't do that. It's either a gun or bow a wound. I'd lean towards a gun shot wound though.

A gun shot that close to the spine usually breaks the spine just from shock.

 

That was my thought when I seen it. I have about 10 pics of him this month and all of them have that dent in his back so it's not just a ruffled hair thing either.

 

Got into it with a car is my guess.

 

Who knows. Looks like a potential up and comer. He's got a good body.

 

Is his neck messed up to? Someone in your area needs to do some target practice.

 

Next time you see him, you'll just have to ask him.

I could give you a bunch of different guesses but my main guess would be that he was having a bad hair day!

Gunshot graze, bow shot graze, hit by a car, hung on a barbed wire fence while in a rush to duck under, gouged by a buck in a fight, rubbing on a rough bark tree, narrowly escaped a black panther attack. Take your pick, most of them could really happen.
