I want to start planning a surprise Elk hunting trip for my dad and I a year or so after I graduate from college (next spring). The problem is, I don't know anything about hunting Elk or even where to begin. Have any of y'all been on a guided Elk hunt - anyone, outfitter or location you would recommend? Furthermore, how much can I expect to spend; flight, hunting, food, lodge etc...? I know it will all depend on how long we decide to hunt, but I would appreciate it if some of you could start pointing me in the right direction. It has been lifelong dreams of ours to harvest one with a bow.

    Thank you all in advance,

I hear THESE GUYS can help you out ;) and you can draw a tag next year, guaranteed :D

Seriously, if I don't have something for you... I can find someone that does and I can tell you what to look for and the right questions to ask to make sure you go on a quality hunt.

I don't think you could get better help than from Dubbya, since he's actually a guide. But if you want a nice round number for a week trip, depending on where you're traveling from, I'd expect to spend bare minimum 10k for 2 people (that's just the guided portion of the hunt). Some will be a little higher, some a little lower, but that's a decent Goldy locks number. That doesn't include your tags which can run from $500-$1000 each.

    These numbers don't include:
    New Gear
    Travel (Flight?)
    Travel meals
    Hotel if needed.
    Taxidermy
    Processing
