I watched about 6 or 7 of the episodes. They kill some Nice bucks. Also saw some poor shot decisions and zero safety when climbing and hunting. Beautiful country up there though Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Agreed the shot he took in episode 6 one of the worst I have ever seen. I don't get what is so hard about wearing a safety harness either
I've only watched the first 2 episodes, why hang a stand without a harness? If Mossy Oak is involved, why is this being allowed with their name on it?
And there was no regrets. Excitement and fist pumping ensued. I dont know if they found that buck either. It showed them chasing it around through people's yards. If you are going to hunt in a suburban area the least you should do is try your best to take ethical shots. I know there are those that argue about the front low chest hit and how it is lethal but this just proves how way wrong that shot can go Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I'm not better than anyone. But actions reflect character. Just like you enjoyed the material, I did not (overall). Not a big deal, just my opinion. It is beautiful country and they definitely put their work in and kill some very nice deer. That's not easy to do, even in the suburbs. And I would be a complete liar if I said I wasn't a tad jealous of all the heads on their walls. But it makes me wonder how many of those bucks suffered unnecessarily because of poor shot decisions. I was excited about it when I started watching, but as the episodes went on I picked up on a lot of things they do that in my opinion are selfish, careless, and plain ignorant. I'm sure they aren't bad guys, maybe they just lacked an ethical mentor when growing up hunting. Also what FP said about Mossy Oak putting their name on it. Can't believe that one. If I'm more concerned with my safety and have grown old enough to believe that I'm not invincible, then yes, I'm better than that. If you live by "that'll never happen to me" then I wish you the best of luck. I enjoyed lots of there hunting and seeing the amount of deer that they encountered and I'm proud of the effort they put in asking permission and not trespassing. I'm not taking any of that away from them, but you cannot give me one good reason to not wear a harness or some sort of fall restraint when hanging a portable set. As far as the shot selection goes, I've made many mistakes in the past so for that reason, I've given up on the "I think I can make that shot" way of thinking. If the shot isn't there, they get a pass.
My point being, guys love to pick a part and criticize any filmed hunting for our entertainment. I'm sure if you or I was being filmed there would be lots of guys not agreeing with what we do as well. Enjoy it for what it is, guys doing what they love and entertainment Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not taking any of that away from them but I'll call a spade a spade. When you put yourself out there to be viewed by a public audience then you have to fly the straight and narrow. I'm not trash talking and I gave them credit where it was due. They are simply setting a bad example to an audience. Young hunters look up to people on these shows and should see good, safe, moral practices. If these guys are truly serious about growing and advancing in this industry then they should be open to constructive criticism anyway. Even when they don't ask for it. There is no doubt, I'd be hammered for some of my quirks. I do enjoy it but one day of not having that harness on and bouncing off the ground will change your perspective. I have a very good friend that has found out what deceleration trauma is like first hand.
Eh I get it everyone makes questionable mistakes or shots I am not saying I am perfect but I try to my best ability to not. Also I think that because it is being broadcasted they should have been sitting in the editing room and said you know what this shot was bad and we shouldn't glorify it by making a episode of it for everyone to see. Especially since younger hunters probably look up to them and will imitate the shots they take. Not too mention the guy has gotten a ticket for hunter over bait and hunting without a tag. Yes he was "younger" when hunting over bait and supposedly he didn't know he had to buy a license and a tag well ignorance doesn't make it ok in my book. I guess this guy just rubs me the wrong way to each their own though
From what I understood, the trespasser was the one who was caught hunting over bait and without a tag/license ? I do agree about the safety harness'.
If I want to ride my motorcycle without a helmet and climb my tree without a harness and put it on youtube, who f***ing cares? What the hell happened to America?
One chooses to put forth the content....if I shot anything questionable I wouldn't put it forth plain and simple. However, I am extremely conservative in shot choices and perhaps play it safe more than most so....
Definitely one of the best series I've seen , really well made. Terrible ethics displayed in episode 6... bummer Sent from my SM-G930P using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Episode 6...not so good and no safety harness. Other than that they hunt and put their time in. Reminds me of a property I used to hunt just north of Philly.
I liked series, anything that didn't sit right with me has already been said but I really loved how they went to the town meeting to fight for there ability to hunt within the town I feel like there are some people out there who wouldn't have the courage to stand up and fight for what they believe in and it made me feel good to see that.
