Are you a superstitious person? If you are, what makes you think the way you do? A list: -Friday the thirteenth is an unlucky day -A rabbit's foot brings good luck -An apple a day keeps the doctor away -To find a four-leaf clover is to find good luck -If you walk under a ladder, you will have bad luck -If a black cat crosses your path you will have bad luck -To break a mirror will bring you seven years bad luck -To open an umbrella in the house is to bring bad luck - Itchy palms = Money/greed - Knock on wood - Fingers crossed for good luck
^ ouch. Not really a superstition, and I don't know why- but the number 37 is the most commonly random occurring number combination in pop culture. It's literally everywhere. My own superstitions are- if I wear my Red Wings jersey while watching a game, they will lose. Guaranteed. This has never not happened, in over 20 attempts during the course of 5 seasons. if I tell my father that a Detroit anything sports game is on national TV, and he turns the game on- they are nearly guaranteed to lose. if I think, "hey, I haven't had a cold in a long time" I will almost assuredly get one w/in a few days (I actually think there is a psycho-semantic effect/causal thing going on here...like my brain recognizes that something isn't quite right before the symptoms are noticeable.) me and Murphy are very, very well acquainted.
No superstitions here... except maybe catching a bass on the first cast. My son and I refer to it as "The Kiss of Death." Oh and I never watch an Iron Bowl when Auburn is picked to lose. I sit in my tree stand and listen to it on the radio.
Hahaha the one day I got a trout on the line on the first cast, I maxed out my limit. Have been back 5 times since then and got 0. Another time in a stream I cast and got a sunfish on the line first cast, guess what, got nothing else for the rest of the day. Hmm.
Certainly you can take the lords name in vain. The Lord on the other hand is I'll advised, really both would be undesirable.
The only thing that comes to mind for me is a black cat crossing the road....never fails. I've gotten to the point where if at all possible I'll turn around and take a different route. The last time I had a black cat cross in front of me, my favorite uncle passed away the next day. I'm not convinced turning around helps either...it seems it may be more of a bad omen than a catalyst for bad luck.
Just wondering, for those of you that don't believe in any of that, do ay of you have "certain routines" that you do during hunting season?? SCFox
