I think the defenses had something to do with that....Denver's was better and Can choked...bottom line, IMO
I've seen the Denver defense play. They are not the best defense in the NFL. They are possibly the dirtiest and maybe the most physical, but not the best. I watched the Chiefs dominate the Broncos in both games this year. The Broncos only let the Chiefs for 24 seconds total in those two games. If is wasn't for an inexcusable fumble at the end of the game, the Chiefs most likely would have beaten them twice and had the home field advantage throughout the playoffs. They scored 24 and 29 pts against that defense and the Chiefs aren't exactly known as an offensive juggernaut. There's no doubt that Cam choked, but so did the entire offense. Receivers dropping passes, running backs fumbling, offensive linemen false starting, offensive coordinates asleep at the wheel. It was just a plain terribly played offensive game by the Panthers. It's not all on Cams shoulders, but he certainly didn't do anything special.
By the way, the Panthers Defense was actually better than the Broncos defense. The Broncos only had 11 first downs. 1 of 14 on third down conversions. Total net yards of 194. The only way you win a game like that is having the other team piss down their leg, which the Panthers gladly did. Watch Carolina Panthers vs. Denver Broncos [02/07/2016] - NFL.com
That may be the case, but they were clearly better than the Broncos. The Broncos just had home field advantage and that is a huge advantage, especially when you consider the altitude. If they were not playing at home, there's no chance they make the super bowl.
I know you guys are thinking Cam is a big cry baby about how he acted in his post game interview. But he still answered questions after losing the biggest game of the season because he is required to. Maybe it's not how you guys wanted it to go but you wouldn't want to talk much after that either. I don't blame him for how he acted because I'd be upset too. Then after seeing another video that has him in the same room as the Broncos during their interviews and can hear their answers about the game. I'd probably end the interview early as well. It isn't just the way he handled himself (poorly) during the interviews, just look at how he acted on the field and on the sidelines, Hooker did a great job earlier posting some of them. You add all that up and there is no way to come up with any other answer than he was a sore loser!
Russell Wilson lost last year under way more heartbreaking conditions, you didn't see him act like a kid who had the I am going to take my ball and go home attitude. He sat there answered the questions like a pro. If the roles were reversed and Peyton had to go up there after losing his 3rd Super Bowl do you think he would have done that lame cry baby stuff? HELL NO he wouldn't!
Just saw this thread, felt like adding my thoughts. I've been a Broncos fan since 2005, very happy to see them win. I had Von Miller for the MVP since the Broncos patriots game. He's just great at penetrating the line and getting to the QB. I think Newton is an arrogant *****. The way he reacted after Wolfe tackled him in the end zone was laughable. He was pounding his fists on the ground like a toddler. Peyton obviously could have played better but he's happy nonetheless. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Being a defensive player growing up playing football, I really enjoyed the game. Both defenses came ready to play and it was sack after fumble after sack. Both offenses got shut down compared to what they usually do. I have always held Manning in very high regard, I think he's a genuine no corners cut kind of guy who loves the game of football. I'm glad he won another one and I hope he retires so he goes out on top. I think we all know, himself included, that he's not the player he used to be. He has the smarts but his arm and neck just hold him back from doing the things he used to do. I think the reason he's being talked about so much is because they wonder if he's going to retire. The records he established last night with 200 career wins and only QB to win a SB with 2 different teams is pretty amazing, but he even said that he thanked his teammates for letting him be a part of the journey - that just shows how unselfish he is. Blame all the Manning talk on the media, not Manning. He never said he was the reason they won, he put all the glory to the defense. I think it was a storybook ending to his career.
Curious to see what my $20 bet on the Broncos winning at the Mirage in Las Vegas turns into. No idea what the odds were when I placed the bet or what they were yesterday.
one thing I enjoyed while watching the game was Anderson the running back from Denver. he had a heck of a game. did he make it to 100yds rushing? I never knew what his total was. I knew he was over 80yds at one point. I think his game got lost in the mix somewhere, no one even talked about him afterwards. to get that kind of yardage on a crappy field is impressive against the panthers defensive.
Just realized in the bliss that Carolina's and Cams exposure brought that Steph Curry was talking smack about his Panthers too.
