Who's got pretty looking plots this year?

Fact is, a mix I planted last year had them in it and the deer just hammered them. I am going to add them to more plots this year for cover and borders.

I am planting Peredoviks. Anyone else?

The farms that I hunt all have clover, alfalfa, corn, and soybeans this year..... not to mention there is buckwheat planted on the bordering farms.... needless to say... I don't think that foodplots are going to be worth it this season. The amount of crops for the deer is crazy, not to mention that the apples and acorns are looking great for this year.

My food plot is next to a 40 acre field of beans. BUT, my beans/oats are planted late and will be green when those beans are brown. I'd actually be upset if they weren't there, if they weren't there, my plot would last about 2 weeks and be done.

I planted 2 acres of sunflowers with some milo, corn and wheat mixed in. This was done with dove hunting in mind, though.

Planted a mix by Frigid Forage...it was thier Monster Magnet blend. It has turnips, soy beans, black oil sunflowers, and some variety of peas. The deer are nipping the tops off of my sunflowers...most are about a foot tall. This is the first time I have tried sunflowers...we'll see how they work.

    Need some rain!!!!

I planted some last year in a mix and the deer loved them when they were young. A lot of them got ate clean off at the ground. The birds and turkeys loved the ones that actually made heads. But the plot got so weedy. This year I mainly planted RR corn and beans so I could spray it to kill the weeds. I planted a little milo where I had corn last year and sprayed it, not too weedy. I may do this for a couple of years to get rid of some of the weed seeds in the seedbank. The field was an overgrown mess before I started plotting it last year.

Not to mention it was so thick in there they could bed down right in the middle of it and you'd never see them come to your food plots -- because they could already be in it! :)

One year a farm near my hunting grounds planted sun flowers on about 120 acres of field and needless to say they didnt even want my bait pile, but they always came in for the salt lick.
