Hunted hard this weekend after almost 90 Hrs at work the previous week, saw no deer Saturday am- 6 turkeys were seen, hunted a different stand in the afternoon and at 6:45 noticed deer in a field to my right - got outta of the stand and circled around to the field and there were 7 of them there .... Put plan B into motion - Slept in Sunday am, headed back to woods about 3pm with a 13ft ladder stand in tow -why a 13footer you ask because this field is surrounded by small trees with the exception of two pine trees fortunately one of the trees was surrounded by small maples, and cedars - = Perfect Ambush - the only down side to this perfect little paradise was in was in direct sunlight until 6pm .... so it was a balmy 76 degrees and felt like a sauna in my camo - put on my camo face to help hide me even further because of the height ... around 6pm right after the sun drop ... my largest doe of the year steps out at 10 yards - whap the buzzcut done the trick - ran 20 yds paused and dropped. Look at watch 6:10 ,,, hmmm plenty of time to see what else is stirring ... 6:30 a 15-16inch wide 7 point appears to my right ... slowly enters field,, deicide not a mounter so will get a pass 3rd buck that I let walk this year.. however was a helpful soul as he turns and looks hard to his right which means he is looking behind me .. slowly look left and behind yearlings 1, 2, 3 .... hmmm medium doe behind them .. all stop and look hmmm there she is ...oh wait she is walking left and straight away she hit the 40 yard marking and turned to come back across, adjusted my slider settled pin.... whap hauls butt outta field ... 6:45 wait 5 mins head to get arrow nice and red, hmmm look at woodline another doe ... walking straight at me ...wtf...ease back to stand pick-up bow nock an arrow.. she is running now right at me adjust slider 30,20 , she stops looks at fallen commrade have pin settled , and let her walk 2 down was enough all and all best hunt of the year a 10 yd and 40 yd shot two nannies and a tired but happy hunter

Congrats on the double, nice does.

I tried that on my 2nd sit last year, shot my biggest doe to date at 7:30 in the morning. Knew she was down so I switched stands, didn't get a 2nd shot op so went back, only the yote's beat me to her. Biggest doe ended up being my smallest. Won't attempt it again unless they fall within sight.

    Congrats again
