http://www.lonewolfstands.com/videogallery/1/media/12/lone-wolf-stabilizer-straps.aspx here is a video of them... How long do you stand for? I couldn't do more then a hour or so, two bad knees would have me leaning from leg to leg.
I used to have to stand for 8 - 10 hours a day, in heels when I worked at a bank. So standing for five hours at a time in a tree is no sweat. Particularly since I can lean back on the tree. My knees are messed up from running when I was younger, but they mostly just crunch and pop. Standing just works better for me. Seemed like when I tried sitting I'd; 1) get really sleepy, and; 2) always have deer show up from a direction where I had to stand but couldn't get away with the movement.
Besides the wear and tear of 21 years in the gun club and all the special wear and tear that it offcer, I have patellar tendinitis and in June of 09 I had a motorcycle accident that trashed my other knee...and plantar faciatis in my left foot. Standing hurts - I get hot spots. Even sitting still for long periods takes its toll. My one bud keeps getting on me when we turkey hunt, but I just can't sit w/o having to move or something starts hurting. sucks getting old
just wanted to make a mention that has helped me a lot with lower body pain: foam rolling and massage. I had patellar tendonsis for about 6 mos last year and it was terrible. I'm the kind of guy who likes to workout and be physical so it took a toll on me mentally as well. i started foam rolling and my patellar tendonosis cleared up in about 3 weeks, with the addition of isolated strengthening exercises for my knee. I attribute about 90% of my recovery to this massage technique, and i've used it since and has really helped a lot for aches and pains. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8caF1Keg2XU the man narrating the video is eric cressey who is a pretty well reknowned strength and conditioning coach, and its worth checking out. didn't mean to hijack the thread or anything, i just hate to see people live with pain that can be reduced or gotten rid of...makes life miserable at times, just something to consider or check out on your own. I would add something but i dont own a climber because there too expensive for me, but everything mentioned seems like sound advice.
Exactly! I like the simplicity of them and that they serve several purposes. I didn't mention the fact that since they are also used to keep the platform from ever falling to the ground if it got dislodged, I found that they are also very useful for holding the platform while I readjust the cables if the platform isn't level while I'm at height. Yeah, I know that Summit says never disengage the cables. But with the LW straps it makes it easier and more secure. And I've gotten so good at it.
