Whose got one ? Thinking of getting the top half of one and using it with my viper platform. I am tired of that damn bar on the top half of the viper. Curious how much different the climbing experience is without a bar to sit on? Assuming you just use all upper body strength? Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk 2
i'm 36, 215 pounds.....life heavy things at work all day (reels of wire galvanized conduit)...and using a hand climber (summit dagger aka cobra) is ridiculously a lot of work for me to go 20 feet up...its a lot of work if your not athletic and in good shape, just to forwarn you!! you can always get rid of the front bar on the viper via a hacksaw and use a tree strap on the end of the climber to sit and climb and remove it once your to your desired height....its what I do.
I am not worried about the strength part non issue for me, just curious how different it will be I guess. Also it isn't just the front rail I don't like the top sides they get in the way often it doesn't help I have broad shoulders either Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk 2
I've got an old Myles Keller hand climber that's a lot like the open shot. Unlike a summit its just a tad bit tippy but its one of my favorite stands. I think the climbing works the abs and shoulders more than anything but its not hard. Just have to take smaller sections of the tree when going up. I like the looks of the open shot seat because it can flip up and you can shoot while sitting.
i have an open shot, absolutey luv it ! i'm gonna be 50 later this year and am by no stretch in athletic condition anymore i stand with the climber section at chest/elbow level, lay my forearms up the angled pieces and grab right at the cable entrances, then pull my legs up while holding my weight with my forearms/shoulders. i'm surprised at how few moves i make to quickly and quietly get to hunting height. usually 20+ feet as mentioned above, luv the quiet, thickly padded, flip up seat and no worries about hitting that bar while attempting close shots
I love mine, Wouldn't trade it for anything. light and easy to move around with. You'll never have an obstructed shot because of rails that go infront of you.
I have a summit open shot. It is a bit small and uncomfortable honestly. I'm thinking of switching to something with a bar and a cloth seat. When I am 20 feet up in my open shot, I definitely wish it was 20% bigger, I would feel safer and more stable. I'm 5'11 and 195.
