Does anybody have any experience with the summit open shot SD or any other open style climbers. I have been wondering if the open style climbers are hard to climb with and does it take longer to climb a tree with compared to a standard climber? [IMG]

I owned the Lone Wolf Hand climber. It does not take as long to climb but it does take more effort. You may want to look at the summit cobra it is an open front with the comfortable seat

I have this exact climber. Light, comfy, perfect imo. However, you are doing a lot of planks and leg lifts in order to go up and down the tree. LOL.

I think compared to a summit viper you tend to exert more energy while climbing which means more sweat and damp layering clothes. With having the bar to lean back/sit on while climbing, I feel it's a more smoother of a climb.

If your worried about the wrap around bar hindering your bow movement, it has never interfered with any of my shots. Even those almost straight down shots. Plus you can safely sleep in the viper having the bar around you.

Also the short climbing rope for your harness is the way to go for moving up and down the tree.

I just shot a doe at 3 yds tonight in my viper xxl no interference what so ever and so comforting to have the bar when climbing in the dark

Lol glad to see I'm not the only one that sleeps in a summit viper. I like to get in extra early and sleep until first light

It's that mid afternoon sun that gets me on an all day sit.
