Just wondering what anybody else plants for these. I'm just wanting little spot close to a staging area for deer to hit up before heading to the crop fields. What has worked for others that have used these small plots?

We have a kill plot that is in the middle of the woods but we are able to get a tractor into so we plant turnips. They grew well for us last year and the deer love them. I have heard that they wont grow very well without much sunlight but they did well for us. One plant that is super easy to grow and will grow just about anywhere is clover. It doesn't take much to get clover to grow and if you can get a good plot of clover the deer will love it.

I have different kill plots with clover, some with brassica, and some with rye/wheat/oats/peas. I think for a kill plot, sometimes it is more important to concentrate on what`s around the plot , than what`s in it. You need great access, and great cover around the plot. All 3 mentioned plantings work great here in the U.P. of MI, but the cereal grain/pea planting works best in the farming areas of Northeast WI we hunt. I will also try to add a small water hole and a mineral site (where legal) to my kill plots. Kind of like one stop shopping for the deer.
