On smaller forums where most everyone knows everyone even by name these things work great. This forum (it's a good thing) is so busy with so many members it's too difficult to even guess who the lucky hunter might be. I'll be honest, I don't know that many so I just fast forward through the posts to see if a picture got posted or at least a lucky hunter's name. So I agree it's probably good to have a one stop place, just would make it hard to figure out who is talking about whom when you get a few going at the same time.....
I don't open them soooo.... they don't bother me at all. I don't understand why people do it and I don't care who's killing what. I agree though is does clutter up the board. I'm with ya', put them in one thread and the guys that want to do the "I got a text" thing can knock themselves out with it.
Good, solid information I have a feeling the "I got a text" threads are less about the deer, and more about who found out about a deer first. As much as we treat it at such, bh.com is NOT social media. They are good ol' fashioned huntin' forums brah!
There should be a 30 minute episode of BHOD that covers posting ettiquete, rules, threads to avoid, ect. I'm full of awesome ideas tonight. Damn.
Who decides what is clutter ? ? I personally think this post is clutter. The what beer this weekend ..clutter. The 106th what broadhead ...clutter Its actually pretty simple you don't have to read or open every thread and if you do you have wayyyy too much spare time I only open the ones with titles that grab my attention and even then most of the time im disappointed
My eyesight is too bad to pick through 474948 threads, it's a sad fact...but true. That is also why I don't score higher in 3D tournaments.
Hey...I used to argue music and movies HARD in the off - season forum. And I still defend the American Light Beer every possible time.
I don't have a lot of posts, nor am I respected by the slightest by others here.... But let me ask one question. Why do these threads even need to be started? If I was the one who "sent the text" I would want to create a thread with a story on the kill... Just my 2 cents.
I agree....let the person that killed the deer tell us about it. No one cares how popular you are on the Internet.
