OSU is VERY fortunate that an Arkansas player stupidly did not pick up the blocked punt and run it into the end zone at the end of the game. When you block a punt...you should NEVER just dive onto the football...ALWAYS try to pick it up and run as it doesn't matter if the other team recovers that ball behind the line of scrimage....the ball will still turn over on downs. I learned that in 7th grade football!!!
I'm not surprised that OSU won, when you the other team to put up 28pts in the first half you gotta expect things aren't gonna end well unless you put up 28 to go along side em... hogs owned the 2nd half, but the first half was to much to overcome... I blame the receivers...
These players don't NEED money. Their scholarship includes pocket money. Cam Newton, These Players, Enes Kanter, Bruce Pearl, and even Tom Izzo have all been handled wrong this year. The NCAA "rules" are simply twisted and misinterpreted to fit their current agenda.
imho, the ncaa needs to get rid of the "rules" altogether and allow these players to be paid, schools make millions of of them and their "salary" is minimal even if you include a degree in Phys Ed as part of the salary
How do you pay some on the lacross team then? Girls Basketball? They get a 100,000 education and treated like Gods, W-T-F else do they need? They can get laid on commend and the good ones go pro. UM made 40 million of the football program, which funds all the other programs that make diddle!!!
They all get the same stipend, Gary. All sports. All athletes. What I found unfair was....the NCAA told us we couldn't take a job. But, they also forbid the schools from paying athletes. This is WAY overdue (paying players).
Gary, I agree with 2/3 of this AND.... SEC fans......... . . . nahhhh, I'll step up and be the bigger man, here. Good game! BUT.... for some of the previous posters, both here and in older threads: Ohio State is overrated?..... Look at the scoreboard. Ohio State can't compete with SEC teams?.... Look at the scoreboard. Rule violations?......... CAM NEWTON & FAMILY to the tune of $180K!!! Are you kidding me??????????? Bottom line is.... look at the friggin' scoreboard! Hate Ohio State all you want. Just quit the friggin' crying, already!! ...it's not manly
How do pay the starting forward on Michigan Girls B-ball team and Denard Robinson the same amount? Because you know the lefty wing nuts will protest if they get paid different. They are all still Student Athelete's and the majority of them to not go pro. If they need money for their familes do what I did, leave school and get a job.
How do pay the starting forward on Michigan Girls B-ball team and Denard Robinson the same amount? Because you know the lefty wing nuts will protest if they get paid different. That's the only way to keep things above board. Take the subjectivity out of it. Pay everyone the same STIPEND (not a salary....based on actual worth to the school). They are all still Student Athelete's and the majority of them to not go pro. And? If they need money for their familes do what I did, leave school and get a job. The differenc ebetween them and you is.....you could get a job, after class. The NCAA prohibits them from doing that.
Ok now we have Denard bringing in x amount more then anyone else, he's not getting his fair share. Is that fair now to Denard? The difference is they are getting all their school paid for, they made the choice to take the full ride. Paying them is a slippery slope and I understand why the NCAA has the job rule. What is to stop a booster from hiring TP for 5000.00 a week.
Ok now we have Denard bringing in x amount more then anyone else, he's not getting his fair share. Is that fair now to Denard? Sure. If you treat everyone the same....it's the ONLY fair way to do it. The difference is they are getting all their school paid for, they made the choice to take the full ride. Paying them is a slippery slope and I understand why the NCAA has the job rule. What is to stop a booster from hiring TP for 5000.00 a week. You're lumping EVERY player into being on a full ride? Do you know how unrealistic that is? The guy getting $500/semester is under the same no-work clause that TP is.
