The last couple weeks i was having problems shooting with my thumb release. The only way to explain it was like when shooting a gun, flinching before you pull trigger because you know the recoil is coming. I could still shoot with my wrist strap release with a finger trigger. When shooting today with the thumb release it happened again, i let draw down and when to take release off the d loop, however i couldn't even open the release. Turns out my dloop which was decently frayed, the fray was getting stuck in the release somehow making it hard to use the thumb release, has new dloop put on with some i guess new really stiff string material and presto, slapping arrowings while shooting again. I thought for whatever reason i mentally just couldn't shoot a thumb release anymore, it was a great relief. I was told the dloop was stype?? I recommend, i like it, the loop stays in place and doesnt move around all the time
All I can say is it's a real good thing that D loop didn't break, it sucks when you knock your own teeth out.
I replaced mine every year, but then I shot year round practically. Now I'm resigned to Xbow. Only good thing is at least I'm still slinging sticks.
lol, funny you said that. I almost knocked mine out using a cheap thumb release from wally world. Thought I'd try it to see if I'd like it over the wrist release before spending $$$ on one. My d-loop slipped out of it at about 1/2 draw. Didn't lose any teeth, lost a $25+ arrow tho. Busted my mouth up, and bled like a stuck pig. I won't be using a thumb release no time soon. It's funny now thinking about it, wasn't too funny when it happened tho. lol
