So I decided last year I was done tracking bow shot turkeys and started shooting Bullheads in an attempt to put and end to the madness. I had a few fails last season with them. Last night I called in a nice bird. After 30 minutes of strutting and drumming @ 7yds just out of my shooting lane he finally came around the corner of the blind and took it to the head. The dude flops about 10 yds and done. I hop out the blind to grab him up and as I reach for him he FLEW off. I could see blood pouring as he left. I watched him disappear across the road and over the neighbors building in disbelief. There was alot of blood on the ground, far more than any other turkey I had ever shot. I grabbed my bow and headed to the truck, drive over to where I last saw him and after a quick search he was EXACTLY where I had last seen him. He literally had barely cleared the building, died in flight and landed on the edge of the neighbors lil pond. I couldn't believe he made it that far. I was pretty amazed, but super glad I was able to recover him and pretty easy at that Its hard to gobble with a hole in your head
LOL no he was right at the edge of the pond but still soaked. You could actually see the spot of impact in the mud...
Congratulations, I say "stupid turkeys" about 20 times a day when I am out. I HAD to read the thread just to see why they were stupid this time.
My little cousin got his first bird last weekend during the IL youth season. he shot it and the dang bird ended up on the endge of a pond and was soaked! Luckily his dad got the feathers dried and the fan will still look great on the wall.
That is crazy for sure! I might have peed a little when going o pick him up and have him fly off on me HAHA...Glad you got him though and congrats on a nice Tom!
