After a month of not entering the woods, my buddy entered on Saturday morning and hunter our main stand. He only sat until 9 AM, but he didn't see a thing. This stand is on a hill top in the far northeastern portion of the property. Last year the farmer had planted corn and this hill stand was outstanding to say the least. I killed both my deer out of the stand and so did my buddy. Fastforward to this year. The farmer planted beans but they didn't take so they were disc under awhile back. on his way out Saturday morning he checked all of the cameras. not one pic from over a month of sitting. The massive corn fields on the south to southwest have not been cut, so I'm guessing that the deer are all up in it. our property doens't really but up against the field anywhere, except the entrance where there's no trees, so I'm not sure what to do. I'll head out this week to try my luck with some field scouting to see if I can determine where the deer are spending their time at. I already have a clue of where the deer like to hang out at, so I'll most likely consentrate my efforts close to it. I just hope that the farmers get the corn out this week. it's plenty of brown.

Once that corn is out the bedding and travel routes of the deer in your area might change a LOT. Hang in there man!

Hell I haven't even pruchased my tags yet, so no discouraging from this guy. I had just hoped that deer were thick in my woods by leaving it along so long. My newest stand that I hung this year is a guess, because I forgot to turn the stupid camera on last month.:bash: it at the heel of the hill in a sort of ravine with a small stream flowing through it. it's very difficult to walk through because it's so thick. I'll only be able to hunt this in the AM as I'll more than likely push deer out of the bedding area.

I'd have to agree once the corn is out they will change patterns quite a bit, and plus the rut is right around the corner and all bets are off then. Good luck!

Wow! A White Sox fan and a Cubs fan agreeing on something. That doesn't happen often.

Corn is still up around my spot in Northern Il. in Kane co. and have not seen much activity. I have seen a total of 6 deer in 10 sits. 2 on opening day and 4 on this past monday. They are staying in that corn for the most part. My spot in central IL. in shelby co. the corn is cut on our property but the surrounding properties it is still up, but we have seen a ton of activity down there on our land. Basically where the corn is cut you are going to see them, that has been my observation. Good luck it shouldn't be long, as long as the rain stays away

Corn was cut last week on 1 of my farms in WV. The deer are all over the place.
