Statistically, the most dangerous time that falls occur is when your getting onto the platform or getting off. it's usually not when your on the platform or climbing. Always wear a safety harness. If you don't, your're just asking for trouble and playing the odds till you lose. My vol. rescue squad responded to a guy that fell out of his stand, and is now paralyzed. He supposedly shot a big buck, got excited and walked right off his stand, didn't realize how close to the edge of the platform he was.
