So I've hunted long and hard over the last 2 weeks. I've sat for hours in 6 diferent stands, on 4 properties, and in 3 seperate counties.... but I've yet to see any real rutting activity! I'm currently hunting in the sweetest honey-hole I have access to. I've seen bucks, including 4 or 5 shooters out of range, doing what bucks normally do; traveling from food to bed, tending the occasional scrape and checking doe trails, from time to time... the does are walking around, browsing and bedding alone or with their young. It's Nov. 6, it's cold... and I'm in Ohio!!! WTH?? Somebody tell me I'm not alone, here!
That seems to be the story from everyone around here I have talked to, except for the shooters part. All my buddies are struggling to see anything but yearling bucks.
Same here.......I've heard its going on here in West MI by others but I haven't seen any chancing yet. I had 3 does come in to the stand today with no bucks around.... bummer!
Oh thank God! lol... Scott, what's your take on this?? This is very uncharacteristic... dude, I'm hunting where my dad gets all his monsters!! But there's nada : (
It is still early yet. Fawns are still with the does... I believe the chasing has yet to really warm up. I would be hunting bedding and for cruising bucks right now.
I'm in a good a cruising spot and near some doe beds... had 2 bed 25 yards away a few days ago. I almost had to order in food via text :D. I have tomorrow off but I'm considering leaving the spot alone until Thursday... I'll have 4 days to get the job done, at that point. I gotta believ things will be on fire by then.
