Any laws against wasting the time of a Constable On Patrol? Like yelling fire and there not being one.

Fine this kid for not following simple instructions the we have giving the cop to do.

It would be an interesting story if a drunk driver got through because these cops were pulled off duty to screw with this kid and a drunk ran a light up ahead and took out the kids mother.

Point being because of this kid wanting to be a hit on some social media the cops are not catching people driving wasted.

I feel for these cops. Everyone can act like arse but they have to act like robotic humans with no feelings just professionalize.

Personally....I have two friends that are city and two that are Highway Patrol. Like I said, about 80% of the one's I have met and talk too and seen out are pricks on a power trip. Especially the young one's. They are one's that give the good one's a bad name. I respect the job LEO's do...and the job they have. So before you go off on a rampage saying I'm bashing cops...I'm NOT! The kids was being a prick as well by not rolling down his window...but so was the cops by acting like the dog hit on his car and it did not. I mean the cop was making a joke...he know's his right and constitution...lol. The only thing I hate is most I cops I have met demand respect cause of their uniform and badge...when they show none to the common person. Like I said in my first post. If it was me I'd just rolled down me window and done what he said. They have a dangerous job, not doubt....it's just cops that are on a power trip give all the good one's a bad name. Atleast where I live....most are that way. Most of the older cops are good decent people. It's the young one's that have the problem.

Without reading anyone's answer ..... the guy in the car is an *** hole.

This video is what is wrong with America ... this mindset is why "Women's Rights" has led and is continuing to lead to the deaths of Millions upon Millions of innocent unborn babies. This mindset is what will be the downfall of our country ...and people are just to stupid to see it.

I have never seen a time where authority has been under such attack. Parents have lost authority in theor homes with their children because they have bought into this kids rights crappola ... CO's have to walk such a strict line with prisoners that have more luxuries in prison than they do ... and police officers have to deal with cocky little bastards that troll around looking for trouble ... little ****** Bag .... I would love to see that kid put in the inner city and left there ... the first person he would call would be the police ....

    WAKE UP AMERICA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Praise God for the police, firefighters, soldiers that put their lives on the line for us ...THANK YOU!

The cop was completely responsible for any time that was wasted. There must be a procedure for these check lanes. My husband doesn't know what it is because they aren't allowed here in Michigan.

But the purpose is to stop DUI's. Once the cop determined that the driver hadn't been drinking he could have sent him on his way and we could all agree that the driver was kind of a jerk deliberately goading the cop. Instead the cop turned an opportunity to look like a pro into an opportunity to look like a jerk himself. Had they found ten pounds of cocaine in the car, they couldn't have done anything because the search wasn't legal.

Whatever the procedure is at a DUI check lane, that cop didn't follow it. That's not the way a pro does his job. He just provided more justification for those who want to rag on cops.

And guess what? We can safely conclude that the driver did not violate any laws or the cop would have had reason to make an arrest and search the car thoroughly. It was all just simply police harassment.

Well ...let me put it in today's terms:

Due to the fact that your husband makes a living protecting the rights of criminals, looking for every loophole to help them duck and dodge the punishment they so deserve, you may have a little bias with your thinking.

I do realize that he also protects innocent people that have been falsely accused .... thankful for that part .... maybe those are his only clients ... this would still help to taint your views as well

If a dog hits on drugs, the leo is then allowed to search a vehicle. Seems kind of ironic that dogs are hitting on drugs when none are present. This seems to be getting more and more common.

However, this was a dui checkpoint and they never asked or checked if he had been drinking.

For the last time.... Believe it or not, drunk drivers are not the only cases caught by DUI check points. This kid decided to make himself a totally separate investigation LONG before reaching that check point. Can we agree on that? And it doesn't take long for the officers to determine that kid is not drunk, especially once removed from the vehicle.

Now, here's where it gets tricky, so try to stay with me.... at first, nobody realizes he's just some pre-law idiot who's trying to make himself famous on YouTube. His completely erratic behavior is of that which one would expect from a "sovereign citizen", anti-government militia, white supremacist, etc., etc., etc, (see earlier 'McVeigh' reference)....

Now, with this knowledge in mind, would you rather that the officers just kiss the kid's behind, not take a good, hard look into why he's behaving so abnormally, and tell the kid to just keep on going?? I PROMISE you the folks of Oklahoma City (as well as millions around this nation) are grateful that these officers did their job. Period. Have a nice day and sleep well at night, knowing that somebody has to do it, and that the job is indeed getting done.

Here is the protocol for most dui checkpoints. A car is pulled using strict protocol. The cop questions as to whether a person had been drinking, taking any medication, or using any illegal substances. If the person rolls down the window, says no to any of the above questions, and does not smell of alcohol or appear to be on any drugs....he is simply let go. I say the process takes about 10-15 seconds.

Now, if a person half cracks the window to throw off the cop as to the smell of potential alcohol/drugs, or to disguise his identity, then the red flags go up. It is that simple. I have only been on the force going on about two years now but I cannot tell you how many times a person acting suspiciously/jerk for no reason comes back as wanted. Heck just my last shift I was investigating a simple disorderly complaint and noticed a person not even involved the situation to be acting suspiciously for no apparent reason. I questioned him and when I ran him he came back as wanted for a felony.

The first question I heard asked once removed from the vehicle is are you a law student or something to that effect. They knew what he was up to immediately .

I'm not justifying anyone actions. Kids or the leo.

My only concern is the way the dogs are being used to gain unlawful access to vehicles. Remember, this happened to a coworker here in a similar fashion.(so it doesn't appear to be a random incident) He refused access because it was the 7th time in a few months so he said no.(I would get tired of it as well) They had the dog scratch his car just like in the video and tear up his seats. What happened to probable cause and or a warrant. Being a prick is not probable cause. :)

The kid is trying to get attention and the leo's gave him what he was after. Unfortunately, they got more than they were after.

An attorney doesn't really represent a criminal, at least not initially. You're not a criminal until you've been convicted. Either you have been found guilty by a judge or jury or you have plead guilty to a charge.

But before you get to that point, your attorney makes sure you have been properly charged based on the accusation. And your attorney examines whether appropriate evidence exists to suggest your guilt. He/she may even require that the prosecution present their evidence to a judge to determine if there is sufficient evidence of a crime and probable cause to believe you may be the perpetrator of the crime.

If you are convicted, and most of my husband's clients are genuinely guilty, your attorney will see that your sentence is appropriate for the crime. If it comes to a trial, your attorney will require that the prosecution prove your guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. The jury decides whether or not you are guilty, not your attorney, and certainly not the police.

Our founding fathers established the fourth amendment to protect us against unreasonable searches and seizures. They established the sixth amendment to establish the right to counsel. Do we really want a society where the police arrest you, decide your guilt, and send you to prison for however long they desire? We have a pretty good system. A lot of civilized countries have adopted the same kind of system.

Let's take another look at that video. It was obviously a setup. First of all, you have to wonder how many encounters with police officers who responded professionally that he recorded and didn't show.

Now we know the guy is a jerk. He's cruising around looking to embarrass some cop. And he finds his mark. The cop gets angry when he refuses to roll down his window, not because he can't do his job, but because the driver isn't "following orders." So the driver does pull over and gets out of the car. He asks the cop if he's being detained, in other words, arrested. The cop won't answer because he has no intention of arresting this guy but he wants him to pull over so he can determine if the driver has been drinking. Makes sense, right? So he pulls over and gets out. Up to this point he's just being a pain in the neck to a guy who is just out doing a job in the middle of the night when he could be off at his favorite bar getting drunk with his brothers. And the cop is justifiably annoyed with him.

But at this point, the cop's job is done. He knows the driver hasn't been drinking. So he can just send him on his way and tell his brothers about the jerk he encountered. Unfortunately, at this point he forgets that he's a professional law enforcement officer and turns into the playground bully. Now it's bring on the dog. Make it look like the dog smells something, root around in the car, find the camera, realize what the driver is up to and that you've been had. So the sound ends at this point. What happened afterwards? We don't know for sure. We know they didn't erase the video. We know they didn't arrest him or that would have been mentioned. They didn't give him a beating. All they did was engage in some petty harassment.

As I said, we don't know how many cops he encountered who dealt with this situation professionally. Maybe the cops had a good laugh when they realized they had been filmed.

I don't have a negative attitude towards cops. I've only had two encounters with the police. When I was 13, I lied to my mother and went to a party when I was supposed to be staying overnight with a friend. I overdid the wine coolers, my first experience. The noise caused neighbors to call the police, luckily for me. A cop, a really sweet guy, brought me home and helped my mother put me to bed. The second time was pretty funny. The law here says kids under four foot nine have to be in a booster seat in the car. Apparently, a police officer observed me getting into the car without one. (I'm four foot seven.) When I showed him my drivers license, he didn't quite know what to say. He just suggested that maybe I should think about using a booster seat. I told him I would think about it.

So anyway, the driver in the video obviously disrespected the cop. But I just don't believe that a cop, using his badge and gun should have the right to retaliate against someone who disses him.

I would guess by percentages its a toss up between the number of bad cops to good cops as there are good priest to child molester priests, but I don't even know where a guy would begin to look for a "good" lawyer! :)

I've had several bad run ins with cops. I've been illegally detained and had my kayaks searched because a friend of mine crawled into a cave illegally while I wasn't even there (who knew peaking in a cave is a federal ticket lol). 4 cops and a drug dog later we finally got to leave 2 hrs later when the cops realized we hadn't done anything wrong and not all college aged guys are drug running felons.

I'm not excusing some ******* because others in his profession have a rough job. Just won't do it, I have several friends who are LEOs and they hold themselves to a higher standard. Being an ******* is not a crime, not even to cops.

And the mysterious drug dog scratch "hit" is all to common in my experiences as well. I personally know 3 different people who had their cars searched because of some dumb German shepherd when they had nothing in the car even after repeatedly telling the cop that.

LOL yeah, not bending over and allowing LEO to detain you without telling you why is what is wrong with this country? Please.

No, people that just allow their rights to be forfeited without question is what is wrong with this country. It amazes me how often I hear of people on this forum complain about their freedoms being stripped away, but have no problem with LEO treating citizens with little to no respect for the law.

It's sickening. That cop knew he was in the wrong. He just got pissed that the kid didn't obey him on his order to roll down his window, even though they were communicating just fine the way it was. The cop got his ego hurt and tried to teach this innocent citizen a lesson.

    Ugh.

    Mixed feelings on this.

Bottom line the copy's the professional and needed to act it. He should know what the law is and follow it to the letter.

That said, if he wanted to go to legal means to obtain a search warrant like call a judge or arrest this kid legally on suspicion of something, I got no problem with it. Just don't act like a jack wagon or shortcut the system. Be a professional.

Nothing I hate more then cop bashers! I work in EMS and I see what they have to deal with on a daily basis and all these wannabe lawyers just don't get it. It's takes an extremely special person to do the the job they do and I will always have the upmost respect for them. Also I hate it when people say they got pulled over for "no reason".

So for what reason was the kid in the video asked to pull over to the side?
