I have nothing against cops. I will give cops the same respect that they give me.

"We" didn't "guesstimate" about his parents parenting skills. "I" did that. Well, that's not entirely true. I just speculated about their discipline methods, not their parenting skills, and you needn't worry. I'm far to old to pursue a career in law enforcement. :D

I'll stand by my opinion that he's a disrespectful kid who needs an attitude adjustment. He posted this on the internet for the entire world to see and opened himself up to criticism. I'm just voicing my opinion here. I don't expect to convert Hooker, Siman/OH, or anyone else to my way of thinking and you sure as hell aren't going to convert me. It's just a discussion on differing points of view, right? It's all good. :tu:

haha, I'm just giving you a hard time. But I bet those guys down the street with the long grass, pitbulls and beer cans, say the same thing, just in a different dialect. "Damn Pigs ain't getting no 'spect, if they ain't gonna give me no 'spect" *spit*

Nothing? I'm not saying it's cut and dry but I think there has to be a little truth in it :)

Not trying to change anyones opinion. Just find it funny everyone points ot this kid as some punk. Admittedly, I think spouting off laws to cops is kinda d-baggy but the kid was not rude or disrespectful. The cop on the other hand was instantly pissed off at the kid for not rolling down his window so he took the oppurtunity to detain him, intimidate him, illegally search his vehicle, not to mention be a completely unprofessional prick. But the kid needs the attitude adjustment.

Different pov for sure but it's still all good.

Granted, if you take what the kid said at face value it wasn't disrespectful.

What I find disrespectful is that he obviously set out with the intention of challenging the authority of the police. I can't see that as acceptable behavior no matter how it gets spun.

It's about the constitution and individual rights. This kid was an *** but his rights were violated when his car was illegally searched.

I guess I feel safer knowing the cops may over react and search to many cars of arses holes then get worried the my stepping on someones rights and search less cars. But thats me.

It's a big bad world out their and these are the good guys. Lets not forget that. We thanks our troops when we see one walking down the street. When was the last time we thanked a cop?

We may get our right violated for being a smart arse:)

The officer was a d-bag and handled the situation very poorly. There were so many ways he could have handled it better, but chose not to. He was supposed to be the professional that is trained on how to handle this exact situation and he failed miserably.

You're obviously a cop-hating, criminal-pothead-wino. I bet you've even disagreed with the President's policies... because, you know.... you're racist too.

On this exciting episode of "Threads Gone Wild"....

Hook, USSC (that means United States Supreme Court) defines suspicion. Actually, the proper term is "reasonable suspicion". You should check out some of their stuff. It's pretty interesting. :fro:

Christine, nobody lives in Oregon ;) Therefor, the Oregon state constitution has no relevance here. You should apply the same effort into researching the US Constitution. Maybe look into which state this particular incident took place and let us know what THAT state's constitution has to say about DUI checkpoints.

Also (since we're in research mode), why not take a peak at the state's revised code. In particular, let's discuss "obstruction of justice" and "interfering with a police investigation". We could discuss everyone's interpretation of these laws and how they may or may not apply to this case, as well as DUI checkpoints in general.

Bottom line: The kid was inconvenienced for 5 friggin minutes, thanks to his noncompliance at a lawful DUI checkpoint -which he desperately needed to drive through to make his awesome video.

ps- Whoever said officers can detect whether or not a person is drunk with 2" of window down is absolutely clueless.
