10 pages of meaningless bickering aside, lets get back to the topic on hand.

Both the kid and the cop were being ****s... Key point is, the kid being a **** isn't a crime.

I respect the tough jobs cops do on a daily basis, but too many of them allow the badge to go to their head thinking they are above us citizens. They are our equals.

I could EASILY have sued or tried for the termination of the cops that stopped me while kayaking. I chose not to stoop to their level. They enforce the law, they are not above it.

I am shocked by some of the responses on here. It's as if we give cops a free pass to never put up with *******s at work. Literally EVERYONE has to put up with attitudes at work, we just aren't allowed to throw it back in the persons face as freely as cops.

It was a good day to be a cop, hahaha. Lucked out and I caught two guys that robbed a store at gun point. Also later in the day a crazy guy with a stick got a little OC spray to the face.....I guess the last laugh was on me after he spit all over my car to the point where it had to be put away due to biohazard, then he kicked out my rear passenger side window! It broke and sent glass all over the inside of my car while I was doing 50 mph. Oh what fun.

What do you consider the comments that cops should have the right to straighten out the punks like this...

Should I too have the right to straighten out the punk cops without repercussion?

Kids like this give my generation a bad name, but cops like that give cops a bad name as well.

I guess any time you choose not to follow a cops "orders", even when that "order" violates your natural rights, that is reasonable enough suspicion to warrant a search?

So simple suspicion is enough to detain people now?

I take that comment as cheap talk and that's it. If someone feels a cop was unfair to them, they have the right to inform those in charge and deal with it. if they want to be smart *** back to the cop, here's a news flash they are going to come out on the losing end. Life is not fair, deal with it. I have talk with many cops, DNR and even a DEA agent, guess what when you show them respect first you get treated with respect back.

This is not 1776 for the issue we have to face, not the validity of the Bill of Rights folks. Ben did not have to worry about a radical taking a bomb into a stadium filled with 100,000 people, Ben did not have to worry about cyber hackers getting into our power grid, banking system and causing havoc. Ben did not have to worry about a drunk driving accident every 90 seconds.

It's a check point on a public road it's not their to harass law abiding citizens, it's main purpose is a deterrent for those who may drunk drive. So my advice to this lad would be roll down you window, be respectful and go on your marry way. Be thankful folks are out trying to make your travel a bit more safer.

Let me ask this question, if this kid was an Arab and acted this way would anyone object to them searching the car?

And this is not always the case. I have been harassed twice in my life by cops when I showed them nothing but respect.

    It's a question Hook, that's it.

If an Arab young man rolled his window down that much and acted like this kid, would you think a search was warranted?

Half way don't want to comment on this one but alas I will. The kids an a$$hat(doesn't make his actions illegal) and the officer wanted to show him who was in charge. It's very simple, most of the time you can not have a disagreement with police(even if you are right) because if it's the wrong officer you will end up "detained", arrested, searched, or otherwise inconvenienced. You hold no power during an encounter with the police and that is known by both parties. Even though they are protecting and serving you if you get a little lippy or display anything other than a submissive attitude with them that motto often goes out the window. I think baiting and videotaping police is kind of dumb but I also know that probably some of the distrust or angst people feel towards police is because of videos and news that they have seen that show cops abusing power or their own actual real life experiences. I'm sure the LEO's on here are good guys and probably the large majority of LEO's are as well but it doesn't take much corruption/abuse in positions of power to leave a bad taste in peoples mouths and sadly a quick google search will show you plenty of both. I have nothing against police I just find I generally don't want to deal with any because you never know what kind of officer you'll be dealing with and usually the only interaction I have with them cost me money(tickets not lawyers);).

Would the kid be wearing a sign or name-tag that stated he was an "Arab" or just standard arabic attire?

    Yes, that is false.

But according to most here, we, as citizens, should forfeit that power during an encounter with the LEO.

The kid in the video enacted his power, and everyone here seems to be hating on the kid.
