I was wondering if anybody knew an answer, or could point me in the right direction. but i just started waxing my string for my new bow. Should i wax the served part on my string? and for those of you who don't know what that is. Its the part where the d-loop or nock ring is around that part where you nock your arrow. where the heavier string is wound around the actual bow string. Thank you in advanced.
Yes you can wax the serving. It dosent need it quiet as often but does need some attention also. I do mine every other time. I also like to use a hair dryer to get it melted in real good when I use a heavy coat.
yes always maintain your strings with wax, like crick said every other time shooting, it will only prolong your strings life taking care of them.
I wax the serving, and all every other shooting session. Which reminds me I still haven't waxed my string from Sunday's session.
I'd you don't have a hair dryer you can do what I do and rub your string/serving to get it to soak it a little better
This is one of the worst things you can do for a string actually. Rubbing VERY lightly isn't bad, but rubbing to cause friction/heat to melt it in will cause feathering, especially on 452X type materials.
I was waiting for someone (RickJ) to chime in. Don't overdo the waxing. On the other end of the spectrum.....I NEVER wax a string.
Because it affects tune on a stickbow. If you shoot a traditional bow, I'm betting a heavy waxing will slow your bow 10fps. Plus....a string will last thousands of shots without being waxed.....and they're $17!
