I was shooting today and heard a noise I didn't like. I did a once over on my bow and noticed my string stop was loose. I tried to tighten it but it simply just spins without tightening. I have a Mathews Chill and Dead End string stop. Does it look like a new string stop is in order or am I missing something?

if it wasn't loose before, it probably shouldn't be now. I'm no expert on fixing bows so if it were me, I'd take it to my local pro shop.

Take it to the she shop. Not real sure how the string stop on a Mathews is installed but if it threads on, the threads might be stripped.

The string stop on my Heli'm was held in place with an allen head set-screw in the bracket that came back off the riser. Mine came loose once and I turned it 180 degrees so the set screw could get a better bite and it was fine after that. I'm not familiar with the Chill but I'd assume its a similar design.

I would check to see if the set screw is stripped

Sure sounds like something is stripped, either the threads on the stop, or the threads on the riser itself. I hope it's not the later.

mine is a HTR and it slides into the body of the bow and has a set screw in the side to tighten it down with. it uses a small allen wrench and there is a rubber bushin on the shaft of the stop that can be slid up and down to allow for the depth adjustment. look in the side and see if you see a small hole with a set screw in it? if so....adjust your stop to the proper depth and tighten that screw (not too tight) and see if that helps
