have a question I didn't know if I could have help with..

Shooting bows with my brother tonight and he shoots the Hoyt alpha max 32 at 70lb draw weight and he was complaining about how he is always going through string leeches on his bow from shooting.

What would be the cause of the wear and break down of them? And what solution would you give to the issue?
I shoot with the same leeches on my Bear bow, at 65 not 70, and don't have to change them hardly ever.

Any opinions and suggestions are appreciated.

More aggressive cam/higher IBO speed? Lighter arrow? Different batch? Different location?

Where does he store his bow? Storing a bow in the garage can cause the leeches to break down faster as well. I have had bows with silencers that are 7 years old or older.

My brother in law leaves his bow in the garage and all rubber components get replace about every 2 years or less.

He always stores it in his bow case just like I do. But, going to switch to the Wishbone dampers from pine ridge archery and see how his strings like that. I'll throw them on mine as well

The wishbones should last longer as the material seems a little denser. Like whitetail said it could be the difference in setups but history has proven that storage in humid temps above 90 will break that rubber down. Or another possible culprit is Ozone. Ozone has been reported to break down rubber to.

I got a bow from someone who smoked and put it in an Ozone bag and ran it for the longest duration to remove the smoke smell. I pulled it out and the cat whiskers literally fell off the bow and the string stop had cracked.
