:bash: I cant believe it, im so shook im not even hungry for the pizza that was waiting on me when i got home  I switched stratigies this evening, went to a place that consist of two high walls with strip pits at the bottom that come near each other creating a funnel, and it has some major woods (acreage) behind it. It is about 500 yards off the road and i was thinking the deer were hiding up in there since the gun pressure is all around us but not on our 800 acre lease. It funneled toward a cut corn field across the road that im sure nothing is using till way after dark. I was suprised to find alot off fresh rubs on the way in and when i got to the top where it pinches off i was suprised to find a fresh late scrape. well it was dead quiet this evening  and with fifteen minutes of light left i see a doe come running in toward the scrape. I thought why is she running, then here a faint sound to my right of a leaf cracking. I finally make out the white muzzle of a deer through the pine trees 18 yards away, the head bobs and i see shooter antlers. He came in slow (to close) at 12 yards, i tried to draw ever so quietly because it was dead still and he was now walking on pine needles making NO NOISE AT ALL :bash: and heard me draw and bolted  He was a good solid 8 point about 125". Strike four, this is the fourth buck ranging from 120-160" that i have had in range but something is always not right. they either wont stop wile dogging does, or are facing me the whole time, or 25 mph cross wind while at 42 yards keeping me from shooting, and now this getting busted trying to draw  I wondered if i would have regrets not buying a fire arm tag this, well i confirmed it tonight, none what so ever  now excuse me while i go bash my head into something:smash:

Hang in there teammate..........hunting is so weird sometimes. Everything goes exactly as planned and you can do no wrong........or every time you turn around you get kicked square in the jewels.

Keep at it............thankfully you have had four swings at it, usually that is three more pitches to hit then I ever see in a year.

5th time is a charm :deer:

I feel you pain too Dan. I have drawn on the same 150ish 10 point 3 different times and have yet to release an arrow his direction. I still have hopes of getting one more crack at him. I'll be out there tomorrow and Sunday again.

Keep at it they will slip up one of these days. And use a pillow for the head bashing, it doesn't hurt near as bad as a wall.:d

Nothing to beat yourself up over. Sounds like your having a great season. I have been hunting the same eight point for five years. I saw him twice last year within fifty yards. Then, this year I have him coming right in from 150 yards. He stops at 25 yards facing me doesn't like something and turns and walks directly away. All I could do was smile and shake my head. I think it just boils down to the fact that deer are smarter than me and I need to depend on God smiling down on me that day or luck. Other than that I think we are outmatched.

Greg, i got my bow dead silent via moleskin. It was my sleeve rubbing across my chest that gave me away :bash: It was one of those Liberty camo coats :bash: You know that wolf skin we have been discussing?? Im ordering after X-mas

That story is why I haven't rifle hunted in 5 years... I love being that close.

Good luck the rest of the year.

Man that's rough. It happens though. I've had multiple seasons like that, I just got lucky this season. Sounds like you know what your doing, with the way you're seeing them. I'd much rather seem them and not win, than not seem them at all.
