So I am in my stand long before light this morning got deer coming to me by first light. Here comes a hunter figures he sets up 100 yds from me...no big deal its public he didn't see me idc. 2hrs goes by I hear him shoot and see 2 does running obvious miss as they linger a min and then bolt. Another hr rolls by I catch a rack coming through the brush sweet game on I think ....thawk! 6 pt basket rack runs right to me and stops it starts browsing like nothing happened. Mean while I see intestines hanging down around its privates. It's broadside I see no entry or exit hole. So I put one through the cage watch him and proceed to climb down very loudly so its obvious. I packed up got my things and standed where the deer did for a good 3min little drops of blood. 5 min he comes walking up crossbow over shoulder I told him what happened he says cool we track and find him 100 or so yds away. I see what looks like a hard quartering to shot possible one lung then exit wound coming out literally between his 2 back legs. I told straight up its your deer man I just wasnt sure if he was gonna expire or not. Then of course I helped him drag it out. Did I do the right thing or should I have just let it be? ** I didnt really wanna tag it but I would have if needed I wouldn't have shot it if I hadn't thought it would have lived** Sent from my ADR6300 using Tapatalk 2
You DID THE RIGHT THING. Outstanding teamwork by both of you guys. A lot of guys would have bickered over the rightful owner or never would have taken the kill shot to not only help out another hunter but to end the suffering of a mortally wounded deer. Good work!
You did the right thing. No sense leaving a wounded animal to suffer. I'm glad to hear he took the deer. Hate to think you had to take a deer you wouldn't normally have shot because of some careless hunter. That's lack of respect for life to take a bad shot like that. Good to see there are still some ethical hunters out there **pats you on the back**
Awesome job...I'll be honest if pressed I would but man I'd hate to give up a hunt for a larger buck just to put a smaller one out of misery (only one tag here). Well done good sir...well done!
Typical crossgun guy, those were probably his first shots of the year. No respectfull hunter would take shots like that. You would think he'd have quit after missing the first few times. I would have gave the jerk a piece of my mind and made him drag the damn deer himself.
Yes because owning a crossbow automatically makes you someone who never practices, makes good shot choices or practices good ethics.........okay whatever dude (from someone who isn't 100% for them either) In the words of Cris Carter: C'MON MAN!!!
It does in this case dont ya think?..or do you condone being a slob hunter? I am for crossguns when it comes to our children, the elderly or handicap hunters, so dont assume I'm totaly against crossguns.
