One of the hardest parts of putting together a video for me is the storytelling aspects. There are so many ways that a single story can be told and there is no right or wrong way. Reason for this post is that I am I attempting to get people's input on preferences of how videos are put together. Do you prefer a shot video where the outcome is obvious and straight to the kill shot? Or are you an individual who likes the entire aspect of a hunt from the hunters point of view? Do you prefer to see the video as it was shot without background music or do you prefer to hear background music? Do you like raw videos or prefer fully edited spliced together videos? I have recently uploaded a video that I am looking for feedback In the form of either *** POSITIVE FEEDBACK or CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM *** yes the good and the bad. It may be viewed as a long video to some but it was hard for me to tell the entire story with a shorter version. If you are a person that likes to go straight to the hunt you can jump to time 5:34 in the video.

Hey Tyler, thanks for sharing. It was well put together. The only detractor is that you didn't get the shot on film. Good job and congrats!!

Nice video, thought you did a good job of telling the entire story. I thought the background music was pretty good. Noticeable but subtle enough that it fit well. My only thought was using a tripod while filming yourself at the beginning just before you started tracking, just for stability and cutting down on excess movement. Gives yourself more options for angles while doing interviews and things as well, but I know that can be tough while self filming. Way to stick it out and take a nice buck.

I think you do a great job of putting your videos together. As far as the feedback goes, keep doing you. I agree with copperhead that I would have loved to have seen the shot on video, but this story was more about you and overcoming your "lows" than it was about getting a shot on video. Kudos for doing all you could to track down your previous deer and then accomplishing your goal. Good luck going forward as well!

Storytelling is one of the hardest elements of filming for a lot of us. I've got a good friend who films for a lot of big shows, and he always tells me to get as much B-roll footage as you possibly can, as it's what really helps bring the story together. Needless to say I still struggle with it a lot lol.
As far as music, and what portion of the hunt you choose to get on video (kill, no kill, hunters aspect etc...), it really is up too you. You'll find that there are thousands of people watching these videos who will all be able to find stuff they like and dislike, and it will without a doubt conflict with someone else's opinions. Just be yourself and have fun with what you're doing and don't be afraid to try new things with your filming and editing. If you're filming for another company, channel or show, they'll tell you how they prefer to have things done. Until then though, just be yourself. That's what seems to be the most popular videos on YouTube these days, is hunters actually being real. Showing their success as well as their failures, but along with their failures, showing they are learning from it.

I look forward to seeing some of your other videos.

Edit: My one criticism is the auto levels when you're talking. I have my laptop as loud as it gets, and it's hard to hear you at times. A good wireless or even a wired mic makes a huge difference. It's always easy to turn the volume down on a show that's too loud, but you can never turn up the volume on something that's maxed out already.

Appreciate the input. I'm working on my 2016 buck currently from a triple main beam buck I shot and yes the shot is on film. Luckily, I was able to watch him for almost 45 minutes with a doe before I had an chance to get a shot at him. I also had a 2nd angle on that. I look forward to getting that one complete. It's always fun to look back at.

Appreciate the input. The lense that I used is a higher quality than most of the ones I shoot with but it didn't have stabilization. Thanks.

Appreciate the input.. I film with wireless mics as well as a nice boom mic.. the audio level's were strictly with my editing.. I attempted to bring all levels to equal volume but didn't consider overall volume of the content..
