2012 Rut It was only my second time hunting with a bow in the field. It was November 27th and I will never forget the day I shot my first good shooter Buck with my bow. He was a In town Deer about 100 150 to 200 yards from my current position and I just so happen to be sitting in my Mossy Oak camo seat No Blind mind you. I sat down in it about 5:00 pm as the deer at that time were very nocturnal always coming out in to what I call the Burb deer Highway which is about a 100 yard field were deer cross to go to cover. So I waited. I started to rattle just after I sat down and got situated and unfortunately after 45 minutes I began to start loosing my shooting light. Now I was to the point where I was getting ready to leave so I stood up and took one more look around before I would reveal myself. I looked Left and then right and then left again and that when I saw what looked like branches peer out of the cover to my North or left, and to my surprise those branches were antlers. It was a Buck!! I thought to myself in excitement but I had to stay calm because I knew I wasn't going to get this opportunity again I had rattled this rutting Buck into the field at 60 yards an boy was he curious. As I waited shooting light still faded I asked myself what can I do to get this Buck to come closer so I pulled out my Primos Bleat Can and Bleated one time at this guy and it was game on! I readied myself already having an arrow nocked he was headed right for me and I told myself if this deer gets any closer I'm busted, and to my luck right at about 20 yards he stopped and turned Broadside Quartering to shot. I pulled back on my old Darton Lightning at 70# and let the Rage 3 blade fly. I hit him right behind the front shoulder, and would you know he took 2 or 3 big leaps away from me still in sight and stopped. He didn't Know what hit him but one thing he did know was that he was hurt. He stepped once and then right in front of me Dropped and gave up on that day. I'll never forget that Buck My first 10 pointer. Not the biggest of Deer but I was definitely thankful to harvest him and tickled to death about it being that he was my first Bow Buck plus he fell right there no tracking needed thanks to the rage. Oh and by the way welcome to the sight hope to hear your stories in time. SCAN0001.jpg

Nice story. Mine was after the nor'easter after hurricane sandy. We still did not even have power. The snow was falling heavy. A few tree's were already broken from the weight of the snow. It was dead silent. I was so still there was about an inch of snow on my side. Almost no game. A squirrel here and there, but that's it. Then, a small cooper hawk flew only 10 feet above me in a tree, staring at me. For 20 minutes I was motionless, but i tried slightly moving my fingers, to see how he would react. Not paying attention, I looked down, and in the clearing in front of me was a small 4 point buck, but it might as well have been a 10 point, I had never killed a deer(still havent). It all happened so fast, my arm's and legs started shaking, my heart racing, he walked and stopped behind a tree. I slowly got ready to shoot. As he walked out, I got up, and slowly drew my bow. A soft noise through my lips made him stop. I shot, and I swear I shaved the hair off that dears chest. He turned, trotted, then ran into the swamp. The string had just nicked my heavy coat. But at the time I thought I hit him. Next thing I know, I am fiddling with my phone, calling my dad, for I was hunting by myself, telling him the story. Soon I found out. It was still a fun hunt though.

Hunting in Oklahoma on 10/26/12. It was 1 pm on a a full moon and 45 degrees. I took my rattling horns off their hook and started what was going to be a 20 second rattling sequence. Five seconds into it I looked behind me and a nice buck was headed my way in a hurry. I had just enough time to hang the horns up and grab my bow. The deer was coming right at me from behind the tree I was in. He didn't commit to a side of the tree until he was at 30 yrds and then went to my left. I drew when his head went behind a tree and he was only 25 yards away. He then stopped behind some brush while continuing to look for the fight that he heard just minutes before. I held my bow as long as I could and then had to let down while he was facing my direction. Due to the wind blowing he didn't catch my movement. I waited another minute and he turned to leave. He was standing right at my 20 yard mark until he left and when he turned to his right I drew my bow again. I stopped with deer with a "ma" sound and he was broad side. I settled my 20 yard pin on his heart and touched the trigger on my release. The deer never flinched and the arrow went 2 inches under his chest and plowed into the dirt just beyond him. I was incredulous as the buck turned and trotted straight away from me. He was a 120" to 125" buck I would have loved to take. As it turned out he had moved five yards further when he made his U-turn to leave and was actually at 25 yards when I shot. He was a beautiful buck and lived to chase does another day.
