During the month of May while turkey hunting I found a super trail crossing located next to a natural water hole. I setup one of my Coverts and when I came back a week later it was gone.

Another hunter in the area had 3 cameras stolen that week too. Since then I've avoided putting cameras on that property.

My question is....would you ever put cameras on that property again? And if so how long would you wait?

That would be a negative on putting out cams if there were 4 stolen already in that area. It is only a matter of time before it would happen again.

Yeah if they did it 5 times already, they will most likely be back.

I'd put a dummy camera and a good one up a tree watching it... or lock box and Python cable with one still watching it.

Having cams out during turkey season is your first mistake, we have a huge problem here in my state with guys going over any fence when they here a bird.
Put your cams up over 6 foot helps.

In 2006 I began hunting a KILLER property in Southern Illinois. We put up stands and cameras, and were starting to get some great pictures.
Then, some scumbag stole one of the stands and a camera. I can only dream about the buck pictures I would be getting there, but
I can't bring myself to put cams there again. I refuse to give my stuff away to *******s

Great Advice!!! Take a 6 foot ladder with you and hang it high and angled down at 45 degrees. Pick a tree near the one you hang the dummy camera that is close enough to get clear pics of them.. Use branches from the same tree to camo it in. Set it to take 3 pics every 10 secs. I did this to catch a trespasser earlier this year.

I actually have the ability to put a dummy camera out with a black flash video mode camera surveying it from above. Maybe ill give it a shot.

I've had two stolen in the last year and a half off my place. I refuse to allow thieves to dictate what I do on my own property. I'll put two up for every cam they steal if I have to so I can continue to do what I love and catch the a hole next time.

I bought a couple of code blacks and have been able to physically catch trespassers and a thief because of getting an instant text of someone fooling around where they don't belong. Went from averaging a couple trespassers a week to not a single trespasser since catching the thieves 6 weeks ago.

This year I've started hanging a few cameras higher just in case. It's surprising how getting them above eye level makes them that much harder to spot. Add some camo or branches and you'll have your thief soon hopefully!!

Matt stole my thunder. I would put a dummy out and put another cam up in a tree where it can't be seen.

I have a bear box lag bolted to a tree with my covert in it and a short fat lock that would be hard to cut. Maybe try that? I mean they could shoot it if they wanted but if ya have that second cam you could have proof of them destroying the property... Just a thought.

I had a cam stolen last July/barn broken into at our other place. I had a lock box and turned the camera to face the wood line more the week before. But I left the lock box in the barn as the cam was on the same tree for 2 years straight.... Man that stung......

But we beefed things up and I got more cams and adding more soon in boxes and some other tricks but dumb kids havent came back...

Still not a good feeling getting something stolen or hearing of other guys stories about their troubles...
