Shot best deer of my 7yr bowhunting career sat 14nov and couldn't find. Solid 8pt that was quite a bit larger than the 119" 9pt from last yr. Tracked for 2hours sat then got enough rain while tracking to mess everything up. Searched visually for another hour. Hunted same spot sunday and searched another 2 hours and nothing.
Did harvest a great doe saturday with recovery, but am sick to my stomach and haven't slept for crap since. First deer i havn't recovered. This stinks

I had the same thing happen to me this year. Don't worry too much about it, just learn from your mistakes and move on to the next one

That sucks but it happens to everyone. I know a few this season already that are in the same position you are. Congrats on your doe!

I know how you feel. I shot what would have been my largest bow buck on Nov 5th. I shot him high but had great blood for over 300 yards. The kind of blood that you don't have to look for and then it started getting less and less. After over 500 yds I couldn't find any more and grid searched that afternoon, the next day and again one day last week. I was/am sick but life goes on. I'll chalk it up to another lesson learned. Gotta hold low when they're so close and I'm so high in the tree. Keep your head you'll get another chance just might be a different deer.
