like the FCS does 4 teams does not a playoff make...

there is no reason at all they can not do a playoff like the FCS does...

what we have now is better but still not a real playoff...

Eventually we will get there, but it's going to take some time. Honestly I would think the bowls would be all for it. Right now nobody cares about 90% of the bowls. Unless your team is playing in it, they mean absolutely nothing to you and generally they are annoying because they are terrible match-ups. If those bowls were part of a playoff, pretty much everyone would watch, just like we do for the NFL and NCAA March Madness.

Yup, I think over the next couple years it will definitely get expanded and more bowls will be included. Bowl games have become less meaningful and dumbed down ... there's so many of them and as long as you have a winning record, you're "entitled" to a bowl game.

I dont' want to see the playoffs get too big. I don't want to see a #10 team in the nation with a chance to pull off a couple upsets and win it all. I certainly don't want it to end up like march madness in college hoops.

I think 6 teams would be perfect. To me that just seems to be the number and the line where "the best" teams in the nation are. After that you get into 2 loss teams and so on.

    First round
    #1 and #2 get a bye.
    #3 plays #6
    #4 plays #5
    Semi final
    #1 plays winner of #4 and #5
    #2 plays winner of #3 and #6
    Final
    #1,#4, or #5 plays #2, #3, or #6 in championship

    Perfect.

Any more than six (MAYBE eight but that is stretching it) is dumb.... You then have teams that will make it every single year cause they will NOT drop more than 2 games and their name will be enough on top of that (Looking at you Bama, Oregon, Ohio St, etc)

The whole thing that makes the season great for college football is every game matters... The more teams you add, the less the season matters.

I doubt they increase the number of teams much (if at all) because of the amount of games these amateur student athletes would have to play. A 12 game regular season plus 3 to 4 extra post season games from increasing the field would put these kids in a 15 to 16 game season.

I would like to see more teams have the opportunity to compete for the championship as well though.
