Nope, he is hunting hard. In fact, he is hunting harder than most veterans.

Thanks! Yeah, if its raining too hard I won't go. Got lucky tonight, they were calling for heavy rain to start around 5:30.

best advice I've seen.... sit still! i used to smoke back in the day, and i would say in combo with the stench it produced, it was constantly moving. and when I wasn't smoking I was fidgeting. so I would make my self sit perfectly still for (at first 20 minutes) then 40, and so on and only then would I smoke... till I was at nearly two hours of nearly motionless sitting (moving my head only) not only did it keep the stench down, I am confident not moving alone contributed to the number of deer I started seeing. so much so that I was able to pattern them, and opening morning of rifle season I killed my biggest buck to date (not officially scored, but estimated between 160 - 170) 10 pointer. I just got back into bow hunting this year, and I no longer smoke but am having one heck of a time keeping from fidgeting. especially when my 40 year old back starts killing me from sitting there for hours. :)

When October comes you'll be seeing more deer. This time of the year there is so much food in the woods the deer usually don't have to travel far. I've had my second straight sit without a deer. At first I was thinking to myself, what am I doing wrong? Then I said to myself, don't panic, it's early, they're always like this in September. When October hits you'll see more deer.

Once you have a deer within range you'll get that adrenaline pumping, you'll forget all about how much time it took to get there. :tu:

Thanks, yeah I've been working on that too. I'm getting a lot better than I was on my first couple sits. Still have to keep from jerking my head around to look at something though! ;)

Thanks, that's encouraging! When I finally do get one in my sights, I'll be so pumped up, hopefully I can make the shot! Probably be shaking like a leaf! ;)

Try changing stands to fit the wind but other than that all you can do is sit tight and wait. Right now, deer are just barely getting into carb stocking mode for the winter so it will pick up within the next 2 months when the bucks start going on their own and chasing the does. Late October you should start seeing a lot more. It's a game of patience. The more important thing is having the ability to make an accurate and high rate shot when the opportunity comes. If you think not seeing deer is bad, wait until you miss.

Thanks. True, a miss or a bad hit would suck! Gotta keep hitting the range.

I didn't stop shaking for at least 45 minutes after my first kill.

Thanks bro, good luck to you too! I feel pretty confident about this season also, and I wouldn't even be close if it weren't for the help of some great guys on here! Let me know how you make out. If you get one put some pics on here. Happy hunting!

Got to have plenty of patience, I tend to get board when I don't see anything. It helps to text your hunting buddies and check on their luck, if you have a cell signal.
