It's a fatal hit, but why is the hole plugging up? why is the deer not bleeding well at this point? Guts can plug a liver hole, but two holes? by the look of the fletching he got a partial pass through that got knocked out by the opposite leg as she was running.

The only other thing is a shoulder hit?

Can you cross the creek easy? walk the shore line on opposite side and check for blood?

Shoulder hit would be lighter blood I would think. This is darker blood he said.

Bottom line he needs to get that dog in there.

I would try and think like a deer and cross the creek (if possible) and look for more blood on both sides.

    A few choices:

Stop here, mark your spot and wait for help. (dog and/or grid search)
    Go check in the creek.
    Keep looking for more blood.

I would consider marking my spot, going to check the creek and if I don't see anything, wait for help, if it is still available. Temps are geting to be a concern though so the creek is a good option.

My buck did not give me near the blood you got .... I found him grid searching with 3 people .... you need to wait for help ... you can walk the creek and look on both sides, but there is blood there you prolly haven't seen yet ... I was following specks .... those specks when dried will be pert near impossible to see ...

Just wait, and one well show. I had 6 show last year but they just didn't have enough points.
Good things come to ones who wait. Don't give up. good luck.

Not a bad idea to regroup. You need to find some help. And again try and get ruger over there if possible.

Circling can be an indication the deer was bumped. The will circle a lot of times. 80 yards is not that far really.

If he hit her high the guts might be plugging up the wound....the first deer I ever killed I gut shot and the intestines plugged the wound. I lost blood after 60 yards. The buck circled back around and I found him within 50 yards of the shot. It took me darn near 7-8 hours of tracking and then just grid searching by myself.

If that doe did not die until this morning, your deer is going to be just fine when you find her.
