I don't know what it is gentlemen. But this year is almost into August and I'm still not all that amped for hunting season. It's never been like this before.

Maybe it's the fact I don't have any land near me. I don't know.. but for some reason this year.. I just don't seem like I care if I even pick up my bow.

    Any suggestions?

It actually kinda worries me sometimes.

You just got married, right? Hope its nothing like my first marriage :argue: :bash: :argue: :d

Seriously, I've had seasons that i wasn't as amped up as others. Usually all it took was a cool October morning to change everything for me.

Sometimes Duke I think you might make it more then what it is. Don't over think/analyze everything so much. It will come.

    I know the feeling bud....

When I first bought the resort up here in 2002 I was jacked up to be outdoors all the time. After the first couple years, I lost some of that feeling of being a part of the outdoors and started to feel like I was just working. I kept searching for that feeling....you know the one you suddenly get when everything feels right around you and you feel like you're actually a part of the big picture.

The problem I had was I kept looking for it and wanting it to happen to me. I quit searching for it now and just let it happen when it wants to........and it always does.

It'll come to you bud....you may just have to quit looking for it around every corner.

It's not that Steve. I really am about as laid back as you can get (most people just don't understand my humor).. trust me when I say over analyzing is not what I'm doing here.

The worry I speak of is.. I have constantly jumped from one challenge to the next throughout my life. Then.. when I think.. I've reached the level I wanted to achieve.. I've always moved on. I tend to get bored with things so to speak.

I always hoped it wouldn't happen to hunting. But now I'm not so sure.

I hope it doesn't.. cause I don't want to be bored with it yet.. like I am with baseball, football and fishing. Three things I almost never do anymore.. except take my wife fishing.

    Oh I hope it does.

I'd like to get that feeling back the first time I settle into my stand.

It's just been weird this year. Like What the...:bash:

I haven't picked up my bow in probably 8 months.........haven't been doing much of anything hunting related in about the same time. Real life has taken priority for me this year and with work, trying to buy a new house, and playing some more golf this summer I just haven't really even thought about it much. Doesn't bother me or worry me much because my season is pretty well laid out before me with not to many possible variables.......I think that is what has me thinking less about it.....I pretty much know already where I will be and when I will be able to be there. I could pick up my bow right now and drill the 10 ring at 20 yards so that doesn't bother me either.

Like Schultzy said.........don't overthink it.......the deer will still be there and you know enough about them that you will find them in short order. I have yet to have a season fall apart because of something I didn't do in July.

Have some fun doing what you have been doing all summer............and if you STILL can't get the juices flowing when the air starts to get crisp and the smell of fall hits your nose THEN I would be worried.

Ya know it sounds like you need a change, something new! I felt that way a bit last year and by the end of the season I was pretty burned out! I knew I needed a change! I bought a new bow, a Longbow! I shoot this bow every day, no kidding! I never felt this way with my compound. I would shoot the bowtech once a week last year, maybe, thru the summer months. I tell ya I have NEVER been so excited about a Opening day before in my life! Maybe this is what you need is a change of some sort!, do something different this year! Either way I'm sure you'll come around! Good luck!

I'm just sayin a change of some sort is always a good thing to freshen things up, ya know an out of state hunt, a Longbow, a Recurve, root for the Brewers, or even a new muzzloader! Some sort of change does wonders!:rock:   <------------these guys rock!!!!!!!!!

Start shooting a longbow or recurve. THAT will put the challenge back into it.

I use to be a Premature Erackulator and it would usually start around the 4th of July when the Bucks racks started showing a little sign of how big they might be that year. My sons going through it right now, cant sleep at night.
Not so much for me anymore, pre season scouting and such is done as a necessity, because I know as Labor day passes, the horns harden, velvet drops, and the leaves change colors there is just something about it that makes my heart feel funny and I know where I need to be.
Trust me it will be there, you just need to be ready for it.
