I was thinking the same thing until this last week we had a bachelor group move in one could be a ten and the other to look to be 8s. You just never know what's lurking around the bend

like Slugger said, bucks travel alot during the rut. ya never know what bucks you will see during that time of year. keep up the scouting, and good luck to you. hopefully a nice one will show up and pose for some pics!.....and a shot!

I guess I'm hoping to get a nice buck on camera to give me the confidence and patience to hold out I tend to have an itchy trigger finger when a legal deer poses in front of me for more than a few seconds ;)

I'm in the same boat with the lack of shooters showing up on cam. I do have a lot of public land scouted so thats plan b, I don't feel hoping something randomly shows during the peak of the rut is much of a plan, more a prayer. Good luck, still time!

Nice pics. I like how you have you cam elevated and angled down. I'm thinking of building a bracket system to do the same thing.

I put them on public land so I place them at about ten feet high to keep them from being seen and stolen. If you do elevate them practice with the angle before you put them out. I just pulled a card that had about 500 pics of deers backs I couldn't even tell what they were so I'm still working on it.

The one thing guys always gotta remember is a camera or even multiple cameras only show so much, a big mature buck could easily walked right behind your camera just as much as the little ones have in front of them. While I utilize trail cameras as a MASSIVE scouting tool, I don't let them dictate my thoughts. If I know the terrain, habitat and food sources are all strong indications of what a mature buck would want I will have faith there is one in the area...and at the very worst one will be on his way soon.

I hear you and basically that's what I've done as this is really my first full season using trail cams. I did start using them last year and had a couple of decent bucks on camera and when I hunted in those areas I was determined to hold out for a nice buck as I was certain they were there and I actually had an encounter with one of them that just wouldn't give me a shot. I am committed to waiting on a nice buck and will let the little ones walk regardless of what the pics show but it sure would be nice to know for sure that they're in the area.

Great pics and good luck finding a shooter buck. I'm pulling my card this weekend and I'm hoping for a good buck to put on the hit list as well.

I have a friend that likes to compare pics. I have 1/10 of what he has on film. However, he would not like to compare walls. Pics are good and a lot of fun, but I stay out of their way in the spring and summer and put cams only on the fringe. I feel like where I am going wrong is I don't have enough cameras out for the acres we are hunting. I am adding another one this weekend that I got in the mail yesterday. I wouldn't sweat what you do have or don't have on film. When I started deer hunting in the 80's as a kid, we had no film, but still had high hopes for the big one.

150s!! Holy cow I'd probably have a heart attack. I should say that my definition of a big buck is probably a lot different than a lot of you guys on this board. I'm just hoping for something over 100 but hey if a bigger one shows itself I wouldn't mind having a shot at him. Good luck with finding your buck:)
