    saw a tall 8 point buck this past Monday April 2nd YES only 30 yards away !!!!! central wi I had to look 3 times then had the wife look YUP !

    If they were horns we would expect them to remain attached.

    It's said that healthy deer often hang on to their antlers till the new antlers push them off.

    I was just wondering about this as my target deer still had his horns on him in cam pics last week which sucks cause I have been looking for them suckers!! He is pretty old maybe 6 years old and I thought maybe it is his age.. I am gonna agree with you guys and just believe he is just super healthy!!! As long as they grow the same or ****** next season I don't give a hoot at his age!!

    Antlers dude.... Horns don’t come off. Bulls have horns, sheep have horns, goats have horns. These animals don’t lose their headgear. Deer have antlers. Not trying to make fun, my wife gave me a hard time about it years ago the first season my father in law invited me hunting. I kept saying horns, she wouldn’t let it go lol. But that’s pretty late in the season to be sporting antlers.

    Well, damn they have horns that shed lol... Let me rephrase my earlier response. The bovidae family have horns that do not shed.
