I purchased my Stic n Pic about a month ago and I love it. I can kick myself for waiting this long to buy it. I will be buying more.
Looking into buying a couple. Bought one of the mounts that only have one ground stake and it was a big waste of money. Ground around my house is too soft to hold a camera, the three stake system should get the job done though.
Anyone using them where there's lots of bears? I would love to use them, but am afraid the bears would just knock them over. Having a bear knock one over the day after you put it out and not know it until you check it two weeks later would suck. Because of this, I've been cutting trees, digging a hole and putting them in the ground where I want them. It would be much nicer though if I could use a SnP.
I dont think we have a lot of bears compared to other areas but we see quite a few black bears throughout the year...the first time I set out the SNP it was knocked over by a bear the day before I checked it...had pics of him coming right to it and walking by it....I moved it back into some brush that surrounds that area to hide it a little better and it was knocked over again....that time there were no pics of a bear before hand so I cant confirm that a bear actually did it but I have my suspicions....I dont use it anymore because as handy as they can be as you said they dont do much good when they arent up Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using Tapatalk 2
Been looking at them at my local archery shop the last couple times. Just need to do it the next time I have a few pennies saved!!
Had cattle break the threaded piece on the bottom of my Red40 this past weekend. The camera was laying face down on the ground and the SNP was still in the up right position. I added a small rock (20ish lbs) in between the ground stakes to add some anchor weight and it seemed like it worked, but it did break the mount on the camera.
Good question on the bears. I would say maybe it will be ok if it is hidden into the brush pretty good or it anchored to the ground somehow with rocks. I know security boxes have a opening for the threaded insert. OR bolt the box straight to the stand. With the camera in a box on the stand that way in case it gets knocked over it is somewhat protected.
Finally got around to getting this set up. I am impressed and it was a easy to adjust the camera. My other homemade stand doesnt even compare. Plus the camera feels real sturdy on the tripod mount. Here are two pictures of it set up.Sorry for the cell pictures.
