Steel doesnt have a great elastic potetnial compared to weight. Worse would be iron. And the more carbon you add to steel, the more brittle it becomes. I have seen brass, bronze, and other alloy bows, but they are not desirable. I have built many different styles, and types of bows, but never had the desire to make a all metal bow. I would suggest a composite due to weight and the lack of elastisity in metals. That dang malliablity throws a monkey wrench in the works. Can it be done? Sure, and probably with little problem. I just dont care to go that route.

weve decided on a springsteel recurve bow , the only issue will be the weight now.
