SD cards just have a smaller version of the contact points on NES cartidges.

Correction, mine are the G42NGs (I think...now I gotta double check).

But mine are not wide angle like yours.

Whatever the camera is called lol. Mine isn't either, but there are 3 different versions of the same camera. Maybe it's part of a different version...?

Huh, didn't know there was a different G42. That's pretty dumb. My bad if assuming that's what you had, Caleb.

I've got 3 G42NG and haven't had a single problem and am happy with the pictures.

Yeah I definitely have to check. I know there was a GN and a 42 on the box but I don’t know the order now.

Very confusing how companies make 7-10 of essentially the same camera every year with different names.

You should take a photo of your camera and post it. I'm curious as to what they are.

Here's what mine are and I bought them about 2 years apart:

Should have a sticker with model number on it. It will also have a little v1-3 in the top right corner.

I have two of these. I thought they were GN42s but apparently they are g42ngs according to what I see online.

They don’t take wide angle photos (as you can see by my picture posted) and the night shots or anytime the lighting isn’t good are pretty poor (and zoomed in). I run them on the highest picture quality.

I will say battery life and trigger speed seem to be great.

Same shape and size as my cameras. The housing camo pattern is different, but I remember a few being available. Are you sure you're on the max photo resolution setting for the camera? I think it has from .5MP to 10MP in the settings.

Weird. I did a bunch of reading up and even the early model should have 16:9 at the highest megapixel setting. I know there are some firmware updates out there for them, but I'd email support and include a photo of what you're getting to see what they say.

It's strange how different yours look, that's why I was surprised when you weren't impressed with image quality, etc., since mine have always taken great photos and video.

Mine is set at it's highest setting at 12 megapixel. I'm waiting to get home to see if blowing the sd spot out will work.

This worked! I couldn't believe it. Blew into the sd card slot and it took pics. Removed it to check pics and they are there, just still scrappy quality on 12 megapixel setting. Stuck the same card back into camera and it's didn't work again. Took it out and blew into the sd card slot again and it worked again. Crazy!!!

I can assure you mine are G42NG cameras, I've bought 15 of them over the last 4 years on Amazon. I have a pic somewhere of them all in the original boxes labeled G42NG and I have lock boxes for all of them which are model specific.

I have no idea what the deal is with yours Simon, I've never seen that version and all of mine have the wide 16:9 ratio. I'm a fanboy of whatever works well and I've had pretty good luck with mine as I have with several different brands and models of cameras. I'll brag about any camera that has done a good job for me, no matter what brand it is. The only complaint I've had with mine is that now that they are three and four years old, they are slowly dying one at a time...but they are a few years old and run 24/7/365.

    Here's mine, they are 10mp:
    https://www.sportsmansguide.com/pro...42-no-glo-ir-10mp-game-trail-camera?a=1701373

    Here's yours, it's supposedly 12mp:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Stealth-Cam...k-Camo-STC-G42NG-KPT-/122566723407?rmvSB=true

No idea why they are so different. My first guess was the ebay one's are knock offs but who knows. Maybe SC just makes a cheaper, crappier version.
