Battery life is greatly improved on the G series cameras from what you have. Believe me, I suffered through the old days as well and invested quite a bit of money into batteries for a few years.... I have a G30 in one of our food plots that's been there since early August taking roughly 1,000 photos/week on a set of standard alkaline batteries. As of last weekend they were still at ~50% life left. Some of my other cameras that were put out in July/August with Energizer Lithium batteries are still showing 100% life. For the price I think they're hard to beat.
I'm a convert from alkalines to lithiums since we had this discussion earlier in the summer. They are hard to afford for several cameras but they last so much better and perform so much better that the change is worth it. I changed batteries in several cameras on the same day after discussion in the other thread. Half of them I used lithiums and half I used high grade alks. The ones I replaced with lithiums are still at 100% and the alkalines are at best 30% with the higher traffic cams already being changed out last weekend. This result was consistent between Moulties, coverts and the Stealthcam G42 My Stealthcam G42 ate the first set of alkaline batteries I used in it. Custom setting to one shot on 30 sec delay on 10mp. The lithiums are still going strong.
Check your local Sam's Club, I have seen G30's for $99.99 at 3 different Indiana locations. Comes with 4 gig card and batteries.
I think the fellow that had them on Ebay found out how popular they were and raised his price. I haven't seen them for $99 in over a month now.
I'm going to have to add some cameras over the winter, and strongly considering Stealth Cam. Went with Covert last year and have not been impressed to this point.
What model Scott, and what were the issues? I've been happy with my MP6's, other than them being too sensitive causing false triggers. Looks like Stealth has come a long ways, they used to be total junk.
MP6 here too, it was a Christmas gift, and I want so badly to like it. I was hoping to add many more if it lived up to expectations. I will say battery life and ease of use are better than my other brands, but the bottom line, it doesn't take good night pics. My Primos cams have less blur issues and are crisper IR pics IMO. Again, I want to like this cam so I am thoroughly running it through the rigors. I even found time to move it to a new spot on the farm, even while spending most the day chasing off trespassers on UTV's under my stand, stray dogs, and guys thinking I wouldn't mind if they were cutting firewood in a bedding area while I was hunting.....but back to the cam, I'm hoping the new spot is better suited for the cam. The trigger range will be closer, instead of a field edge set up. We'll see.
