Well this is my first year really hunting for whitetails hard with my bow. Been seeing lots of deer and need to start doing all dayers, having some issues though. Can't take the cold. I've always been able to take the coldest of colds, but that was hiking 3000+ feet to hunt lol. Now that i'm sitting in the stand i'm in a new element.

Is there any secrets to layering? I'm trying ot keep the bulk down as to avoid any string contact. feet, legs, hand, and head are fine, just my torso gets cold. Normally wear under armor top, long john top, 2 longsleeves, a flannel, and a light jacket. Bulk isn't a issue this way. However, I feel than I'm not layering properly. I think I have plenty of clohtes, just not in the correct order, if that makes sense?? lol. So any hints? thanks!

dont know your age and health, after i turned forty health issues have caused me to get cold fast, so i seen a doctor and found out what was going on,,,

not saying something is wrong with you but be safe and smart in the woods and eliminate any thing that is beyond are control.

once five years ago i fell thru a ice packed stream got water up to my chest i got out and had to walk about 150 yards to my atv and drive another 1/4 to my truck my clothes were frozen rock hard by the time i got into the truck, i sure i came close to death that day. so hunt with a buddy.........

i use heat packs in my coat for core heat
    packs in pockets for hands
and the make smaller packs for your boots
i dont get cold until it gets in the mid 30's but i always have some in my truck for backup

fleese is the best thing i have ever found to keep me warm.

If you could put some kind of rubber non slip surface on the platform of your climber, I believe it would keep your feet warmer.

They make those boot blankets that you can put on once in our stand.

If it's just your torso that is getting cold you should look at adding a vest to your layers.

I wear a fleece, wind resistant vest.

It adds warmth without adding more bulk to your arms and shoulders.

Many suggestions to offer. As has already been said, rubber or carpet on your stand platform will reduce the heat loss through your feet. You had said it was only your torso so extra layers for your body or the right layers are what you are looking for.I like capilene from patagonia as a first layer, cap 3 or cap 4 depending upon how cold it is.Over that goes a smart wool or ibex wool long underwear zip turtle neck top,a second wool long underwear shirt may go on top of that if it is really cold.A wool or fleece vest with some form of windstopper lining could go on top of that. Then your outside layer fleece or wool, there are so many different possibilities. Pay particular attention to having a warm hat on or multiple wool hats on,make sure your neck is covered by a scarf wrapped around it or a fleece or wool cowl.If it is bitter cold a thermawrap adhesive heat pad on your lower back will really help keep you warm.
I have to go shower and head out to the airport.I am headed to your part of the world. One state to the left actually.
