Like many of the board members here, my season has been a big bust so far. Deerless sits, blown opportunities, bad timing... It's all been building and so has my frustration. ...But, it only takes 30 seconds to change your whole year right?! I spent a few minutes and read my threads from last year. They went from dismal to elation at the flip of a switch. That's what I'm counting on! Chin up, and butt in stand. Let's do this! Now 364 1/2 days ago, The Beast cruised through and my brother's camera got him... I'm hoping he is 9-12 hrs ahead of schedule this year. I'm off to the stand...
Yep, my greatest hunting successes come at the time in the trip of most disparagement over being unsuccessful. Things change quickly and you've got to be there when they do to make it happen.
I hope he is too Fitz! It hasn't been the best season for me either, two blown shots. The next 13 days are as good as it gets for me. Good luck to you.
That is a ridiculous buck! Good Luck! I hear you on the disappointment...sat all day Friday, all day Saturday and Sunday AM...saw one small buck from afar. I have limited time in the stand so I was bummed out that nothing came to this past weekend....good thing is, there is still plenty of time. I just need to make sure I'm out there whenever I can be! I think things will start to turn for the better for everyone really soon
I know the feeling. I live in an "earn-a-buck" area and it took me 5 weeks to shoot a doe. It didn't help that the same fawn busted my father and I 3 times while drawing on the same doe (its mom). I still haven't seen a buck in the daylight, but my time will come. I could have shot that fawn 3 times in the past week, and I am reeeeealy tempted.
Fitz, staying positive is the most important part of my hunting arsenal. Keep at it man, things are going to pay off. I just love the pics from your hunts man. Hunting in that environment looks challenging and rewarding. The next 10-14 days are gonna be primetime in the deer woods. I am going to kill a buck this afternoon...how is that for staying positive?
Success will increase portionally with time afield. A positive attitude will keep you in the field; a negitive attitude will keep you on the couch. It's really that simple.
I look at this a lot differntly. I have 5 bucks on my wall, downstairs (from the last 4 yrs). 2 of them came from woods I haven't hunted, yet. 2 came from woods I've hunted, once. I'm excited, knowing I haven't over-hunted my best spots. For the 1st time, ever - I'm excited to hunt, but not feeling ANY internal pressure to score. None. Nada. Your best times to hunt are here. Your woods are fresh. Have fun. Good luck to you.
